A Faithful Reproduction of a Solidbody Classic!

Strap on Gibson Custom’s 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Reissue solidbody electric guitar and experience a primal instrument that’s perfect for rock. The all-mahogany 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Reissue is a dead-on reproduction of the ’50s axe, from its single dog-ear P90 pickup to its robust neck profile to its simple-yet-sturdy hardware. You’ll love the instantly recognizable design and vintage vibe. Original LP Juniors are now almost impossible to find, but this 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Reissue puts a classic in your hands.

Double-cutaway mahogany slab body

Gibson Custom built the 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Reissue with one thing in mind: to deliver the feel, sound, and vibe of a genuine ’58 LP Junior to your hands. The combination bridge and tailpiece is now standard equipment on many upper-level instruments, proving that sometimes simple is better. It’s the perfect example of a purpose-built instrument and a real blast from the past!

One P90 dog-ear pickup in the bridge position

You want a raw, rocking experience? You won’t be able to get enough of the 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Reissue’s lone single-coil P90 dog ear pickup. By the way, it’s called a dog ear because of the mounting flanges, which players jokingly referred to as looking like a pair of dog ears. But how does that single legendary pickup perform? Plug the 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Reissue into your favorite amp, and prepare to be astounded by the sound. It’s no coincidence that leagues of players got their start with this guitar — and have come back to it time and time again.

A 1-piece mahogany neck with ’50s profile and rosewood fingerboard

If you’re looking for classic feel, then wrap your hand around the 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Reissue’s ’50s chunky “C” neck profile. With that beefy neck and the extra bite produced by the P90 pickup, you’ll be astounded by how deeply you can really dig into big power chords and screaming lead sounds. You’ll also love how the unbound rosewood fingerboard and dot position markers give this axe a straightforward look that matches this guitar’s sonic character.

Gibson Custom 1958 Les Paul Junior Double Cut Reissue Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Faithful reproduction of a classic Les Paul Junior with great rock tones and stripped-down looks to match
  • Single P90 gives you unbelievably big sounds
  • Great sustain and midrange character thanks to a premium mahogany slab body
  • 1-piece neck with chunky “C” profile for authentic ’50s feel
  • Super-simple hardware for authentic looks and feel plus great tuning stability

Sweet!!!

Third ax from Sweetwater, second Gibson Custom. The setup from sweetwater was fine, I just tweeked the action a bit and changed out the 10s for some 11-50 pure nickle round core strings. Plays well with me now. My first P90, and my first single pickup guitar (apart from my jazz box), and I am stocked, rockin' the Mountain! This is definately a keeper!!!
My friend Zach Menard at Sweetwater is super, always takes good care of me.

Single Pickup Bliss

Expensive? Yes, but you get what you pay for, and there is a big difference between a custom shop instrument and the standard production line. This is a hand fitted guitar, a 1-piece solid Mahogany body, 1-piece neck with chunky "C" profile, Indian rosewood fingerboard, and one (1) P90 pickup with volume and tone. I love a single-pickup guitar and many of the great classic players felt the same. For one, increased sustain and harmonic content. With no neck pickup, there is no additional magnetic field pulling on the strings. That leaves the strings able to vibrate more freely with no harmonics being dampened. If you want a flashy shredder with a dive bomb whammy and multiple pickup configurations this isn't for you. However, if you want a guitar with great sustain and legendary sounds this is it. As always, big thanks to my Sweetwater guy Aaron Smith. This guy is the best of the best!
