The Amazing 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue VOS

The Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue VOS is oozing with classic tone and vintage-original-spec authenticity. Its eye-grabbing VOS nitrocellulose lacquer finish captures the depth, and richness of a genuine '57 Custom — one of the most iconic solidbody electric guitars ever made. Handcrafted by Gibson's elite Custom Shop luthiers, the 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue VOS features top-shelf tonewoods, including a 1-piece mahogany body and a fast, comfortable Chunky C profile mahogany neck topped by a silky smooth ebony fingerboard with 22 Historic medium jumbo frets, Plek'd to perfection. Plug this beast into your favorite tube amp, and experience searing PAF tones, courtesy of three powerful CustomBucker Alnico III unpotted pickups. Premium appointments, including gold hardware, mother-of-pearl '50s Pattern inlays, and Kluson Waffleback tuners complete the amazing 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue VOS.

Every inch of this Les Paul has vintage vibe

To capture the essence of the original 1957 Les Paul Custom, Gibson painstakingly re-created each part piece by piece. The mahogany body, nitro finish, and solid ebony fingerboard are only the beginning. Not only do you get the Chunky C profile neck you've been craving, but the accuracy of the details go all the way down to the positioning of the instrument's vintage-style Kluson Waffleback tuners and the size and shape of its mother-of-pearl '50s Pattern inlays.

CustomBucker pickups deliver pure vintage PAF tone

Gibson Custom paid just as much attention to this guitar's electronics as they did to its aesthetics. Every part of its internal signal path was designed to deliver dead-on 1957 Les Paul tone. Of course, it's next to impossible to find genuine '50s PAFs (even for Gibson). Instead, the 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue VOS sports a trio of Gibson's CustomBucker humbuckers. The CustomBucker is the most historically accurate PAF copy ever. Take it from Sweetwater's guitar experts: The Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue VOS nails the look, sound, and feel of an original 1957 Les Paul Custom.

Chunky C neck and Plek'd frets for optimized playability

Comfort and playability were two of Gibson's primary concerns when they were designing the 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue VOS. You'll be delighted at how this guitar's Chunky C profile neck comfortably fills your hand in just the right way. For your playing pleasure, the bound ebony fingerboard is buffed to silky smoothness and the frets are dressed to perfection using a Plek Pro machine for optimized playability. Typically reserved for top-dollar custom guitars, this process levels the frets with pinpoint precision, providing you with the most playable fretboard you're likely to own.

Vintage Original Sheen finish, for the look and feel of a classic

Gibson Custom's Vintage Original Sheen finish option comes standard on Custom Shop Historic Reissue models. The VOS finish package includes lightly aged parts that imparts an authentic vintage patina. The nitrocellulose finished it buffed to a light matte appearance, giving a look and feel of a guitar that has been lovingly played and cared for over the years.

Why Buy Your Guitar from Sweetwater?

See how Sweetwater goes to great lengths to give you the very best online guitar buying experience. From our online Guitar Gallery that allows you to see and select the exact instrument you want to our 55-point Inspection process and our in-house guitar techs, we take the guesswork out of buying your next guitar online.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Marvelous instrument

I waited approximately 50 years to acquire one of these. Over the years I played (but never owned) several Les Pauls but could not find one I really liked or wanted. Besides I have an early 90's Heritage H-150 which largely satisfied my needs. But this exceptional instrument will be lovingly played for years. Gibson is back in a big way

The King of all Gibsons -- In my Opinion

What can I say? This is **the** definition of the Black Beauty. The neck profile is great and the VOS aging adds a nice touch to the guitar. The tones are incredible. There is a shop relatively local to me that has a vintage '57 (two pickups only though, not three) and I got to say, after comparing the two you really can't tell a difference. This reissue absolutely nails the tone and feel of a vintage one. It is very much worth the money, in my eyes at least.

The only thing you'll have to probably do is get used to having a third pickup in the middle there if you don't have a guitar like it already. This definitely threw me for a little loop at first but after a couple of weeks I warmed up to it and especially after lowering the pickup just a little bit, it is fine.

I've been dreaming about owning one of these for roughly 11 years now. I'm 25, yet this guitar is one I'm keeping for life. It's my dream guitar and I'm so thankful to Gibson and Sweetwater for helping me make my dream come true. I definitely recommend purchasing one if one comes in stock and you can afford it. I've been watching this very specific model for years now and it really seems like Gibson only makes a very small handful each year, maybe ~60ish total across all the different versions of this R7 Custom? Between checking Reverb, Sweetwater, and other websites, it really seems like that **in general**, the Custom Shop makes a relatively limited supply of these each year so if one comes in stock, it very likely won't be in for long.

I hope this helps!

Amazing build quality

These Gibson Vos guitars are perfectly crafted with superior build quality and attention to detail each one is a pice of art, the harmonic content and vocal quality of them is unmatched, each note growls with beautiful overtones . The sound is what led me to these guitars in the first place
You can hear a 1959 vos played by my bandmate panned left on my album sakura sorrow by black orchids.
That was the first time I heard the voice of these beautiful instruments and what led me to justify the purchase of mine . These instruments are tools meant to be in the hands of those who will use them they are not just for collectors . The price you pay is for the unmatched quality anyone who is on the fence about getting one I highly recommend you go for it
