Retro-informed Travel Kit

The TAMA Club-Jam brings throwback vibes and old-school cool to your stage or session. The 6-ply poplar/mersawa shells, which are both shallow and compact, are quick to speak, focused, lively, and easy gigging. Retro features include a kick-mounted cymbal boom, antique round badges, and curved bass drum spurs. The Club-Jam's finish is nicely offset by a pair of natural finished wood bass hoops. An optional bag set is available; not included.

Hybrid poplar/mersawa shells

Six plies of poplar and mersawa bring a warmth and liveliness to the Club-Jam's compact shells that may shock your senses. Shells are crowned with triple-flanged hoops for a classic, fat attack and antique round badges — a rarity from TAMA — for a hip throwback look. Whether you play swing or hip-hop, rock or funk, the Club-Jam from Sweetwater is sure to scratch an itch you won't find in other kits.

Reviews

Love the Club-Jam kit
I've been playing a Ludwig kit for the past 10+ years. Tama before that. I decided it was time to have 2 kits - the larger one (Ludwig) to stay set up at home and a small kit (Club-Jam) that is easy to pack and haul for smaller venue gigs (basically, that's what most of my gigs are these days). I figure the Ludwig kit can come out if we play a big space. Thus far, I love the Tama Club-Jam. Everything seems very well made and the sound is great. Based on other reviews, I swapped out the batter heads for Evans heads (after trying the stock heads. the difference was significant with the head swap). I also picked up a smaller ride (20 inch versus the 22 I've had for a long time) which was a good decision. The 22 would be too big for the bass drum mounted cymbal stand. And I will say the cymbal mount is rock solid - I can ride on the cymbal pretty hard and the bass drum does not move.

All in all it is a great kit and a great value for the $, although I can't speak to long-term reliability.

I spent the extra $ for the natural finish and it looks amazing. I'd definitely recommend this kit to anyone looking for something with a small footprint that's light weight/easy to carry. And, as always, Sweetwater is great. My sales engineer, Caleb, is incredibly helpful and attentive.
Tama Club Jam 4-Piece
I've been playing the drums for 15 years, strictly as a hobbyist. I've owned acoustic and electronic kits over the years, with the acoustic always being my favorite. My very first 5-piece kit was a used TAMA Swingstar. Since then I've owned a Ludwig acounstic kit and a Gretsch. My two electronic kits were of course, Roland. After taking time off from playing my Roland, I packed it up and put it in the attic. A year later, I yearned to play again and researched acoustic kits--nothing too elaborate or expensive, just a nice sounding kit that keeps me playing. I am a 5"3" woman and needed a kit that fit my body type and short legs--I'm also 68 years old. There are many choices out there, but I returned to my first love, the TAMA kit. The Club Jam series intrigued me a lot, particularly the "petite" size. I bought the Club Jam 4-piece and immediately felt comfortable sitting at the kit. I love the sound which is very robust, and I love the small bass drum which brings everything within easy reach for me. I thought I'd miss the extra rack Tom, but one Tom is plenty for me. I'm back to playing daily, and use the Evans mute pads in the evening so I don't disturb my neighbors. Fantastic kit for the price and it easily fits in any room due to its "petite" size.

In a jam until I got a Club-Jam
Sounds great. Looks super cool. Small footprint. Decent heads. IMO it does need a Gibraltar Bass Drum Platform. My kick pedal detached pretty easy. Not enough surface area to grip to on that small 18" hoop.

Great Kit
Overall, bringing my shells in two bags was the big win for me. Cymbal boom stand wasn't practical for a 22" ride. Sounded great, and my band mates loved it for Ghent gig. Setup and tear down are very fast compared to my full sized 4 piece.

Great set for our church!
We needed a drum set that would be easy to move around but would still sound great. This drumset did exactly that!
