Best snare ever!

Hands down the best snare I have ever owned/played. Such a beauty in person. Incredible range and sound. Throw and Evans HD Dry on this beauty and listen to it sing. Incredible craftsmanship. I love it.

Amazing Snare, You will not be disappointed i promise.

If your looking for great tone, body, and a crack that cuts, this is it! The range this snare has for tuning is fantastic. It stays in tune pretty **** well too ( once you break in your new heads and stretch them out a little ).This snare can handle the articulation of soft dynamics and, it can punch you in the face for those heavy hitters out there. The quality of craftsmanship is SOLID. The finish on this snare is top notch.

If you think it sounds good to the ears ( which is does!).... wait till you mic it up with some shure sm57's. Throw a little compression,EQ,and a kiss of reverb on it ... Forget about itttt

Beautiful drum, sounds very good. Tuned up will with the Evans G1/300 combination. Will try the genera HD dry or Remo emperor X next. And the hoops are the "Sonic Hoops".

If you are on the fence just read my review

So, about 8 years ago I worked for one of the big chains (not GC lol). I got to play every snare and kit that came in. Initially, I tuned up our demo model of this snare with the stock head, put it out on a snare stand, and set it out on display. It sounded ok. About a week later I had a customer come in and was raving about this snare. He had put an Evans Genera Dry on his (the one with the tiny little holes around the edges). On his advice I switched out the stock head on the demo model and it was AMAZING. The best way to describe it, is think about how a Les Paul just sounds amazing through a Marshall, like they are just made for each other. I picked up one. My co-worker picked up one, and we couldn't keep them in stock after swapping out the stock head. This snare sounds amazing for under $500, or even a grand. Trust me, I had the chance to play them all (and still compare a lot of new snares to this one). Here's another helpful hint: Buy the Evans Genera Dry, and tune it high. It has this great high pitch reggae, punk, ska, sound. A little ringy (if you tune it right, you'll just know) but that's not a bad thing. Trust me it's definitely not like Lar's St. Anger snare sound lol. Then buy one of the Evan's 13 inch plastic rings ($3), and place it on the top head. Nice deep, dry, snappy sound. I swap it off/on depending on the song. It really does sound like 2 different snares too. Btw, this snare is loud. You will definitely be heard loud and clear in a band situation. As for dependability? Don't laugh. I still have the stock Tama resonant head and stock Tama snares on mine 8 years later. Once you change the batter head, there's no need to swap them out unless the resonant head bust. This snare has been across the US multiple times now, for inside and outside shows. Sweat on, rained on, kicked over, loaned to other drummers on the same bill (because it just blew their snare away). I swapped out the head the other day and noticed a little pitting on the throw off. No biggie. Doesn't effect the tone 1 bit. I don't work for Tama, or Evans, but if I did I would make sure every one of these snares that left the factory got an Evans Genera Dry Head and an Evans plastic muffle ring (take note Tama and Evans). Buy this snare. It's the best snare out there. Period!
Music background: I have been playing drums for over 30 years. If that matters?
