Maximize the Sonic Potential of Your Digital Rig

Boasting 800 watts of flat, full-range amplification power, Laney’s LFR-212 is the perfect partner for any guitarist looking to make the most of their digital stage rig. This active cabinet’s combination of two hard-hitting 12-inch custom drivers and a 1-inch LaVoce compression driver provides you with a stunningly full-range, flat frequency response, allowing you to take full advantage of the limitless sonic possibilities offered by modern modeling and profiling rigs. Looking to plug straight into the PA? The Laney LFR-212 also comes equipped with a DI out that features switchable cabinet emulations for authentic miked-up tones. You also get an HF trim knob, aux in, link out, and even an illuminated front panel to show off your Laney in style. For those musicians who have fully embraced the guitar’s digital revolution, Sweetwater’s guitarists are in agreement: the Laney LFR-212 800-watt active guitar cabinet is an essential upgrade to take your rig into the 21st century.

Custom driver configuration for a full, flat response

If you’re committed to capitalizing on the truly unlimited tonal options presented by modern modeling and profiling gear, then the relatively narrow range of traditional passive cabs may present problems. Modern active cabs, such as the Laney LFR-212, utilize a far flatter, broader frequency response than your typical vintage-style speaker-in-a-box designs, giving you a neutral, uncolored platform upon which to build your dream tone. How does the LFR-212 accomplish such a lofty feat? Two robust 12-inch custom drivers and a 1-inch LaVoce compression driver grant you a seriously sweeping frequency response, ready to accommodate everything from vintage-style tube amp saturation to all-out djent and grind to effect-laden shoegaze shimmer.

An assortment of functional features

In addition to the LFR-212’s extraordinary sonic features, this cab sports an equally impressive array of utility functions. From the flexible I/O (including XLR combo in, aux in, and link out) to the built-in tilt mechanism, the LFR-212 is ready to excel in any environment. Finally, we can’t help but love how Laney built in a switchable light on this amp’s front panel to imbue your LFR-212 with a luminous presence onstage.

Laney LFR-212 Features:

  • Active guitar cabinet designed to maximize the sonic potential of digital guitar rigs
  • 800W of power, 2 x 12-in. custom drivers, and 1-in. LaVoce compression driver deliver a remarkably full-range punch with a flat frequency response
  • XLR DI out with switchable cabinet emulation
  • High-frequency trim to tweak your signal’s trebles
  • XLR combo in, aux in, and link out
  • Switchable front-panel illumination to light up your Laney onstage

HOLY SH*T

Never used an FRFR cab before. I did a few months worth of research and going back-and-forth on purchasing this thing due to the price. As soon as I plugged this in and dialed in the tone, the title says it all — holy. The definition that comes out of this monster has got me wanting to play guitar again. There's no flub in the low end (unless you want it there) and the clarity in the highs shines through without being harsh. I play mostly seven string and drop G and this thing absolutely crushes. You will never need this thing past noon on the volume dial. It is extremely loud and has seemingly infinite headroom. I sound like a sales person in writing this; of which I am aware, but my only regret I have in making this purchase is that I did not do it sooner.

Laney LFR 212: Absolutely Incredible
So I originally started playing my digital setup
(UAFX Amp Modelers/Nano Cortex) through the Headrush 2x12 Wedge FRFR. It was a good starting speaker but it could get really fizzy and had basically ZERO headroom so i couldn't crank it or dial in a really bass heavy sound for when i'm practicing alone. The Laney LFR 212 however is MILES better than that. It's comparable in volume to a Twin Reverb which is what my amp was before i switched to digital. I can crank it as loud as I want to and it just will not start clipping no matter what. On top of that, the LFR 212 genuinely moves air like a tube amp would, so it makes my UA and Nano sound THAT MUCH more authentic. It's really good looking too. It looks and behaves just like a 2x12 Cabinet would for example. One thing that really puts it in a league of its own is it actually DOES color your sound , but not in the way that most would think

It tames the high end fizz just like an actual guitar cab would. Some would say that's coloring, I see that as an accuracy. When I first got it, i thought it sounded too dark. My room in general isn't a really bright sounding room so it compounded and made it that much more obvious. I remembered though I had the Headrush tilted up at me to get more highs. So what I did was slightly adjust the HF Trim on the back of the LFR 212 and it sounded basically just how I wanted it to.

If you are on the fence BUY THIS THING. If you're like me and are used to being kicked in the face with air from something like a Twin , this will give you that feeling back , plus better sound quality then basically anything out there. Laney killed it with this product line. I absolutely love it

WOW
All I can say is it is WAY better than I ever expected.

Super clear, loud, clean and beautiful. I would 100% recommend this powered cabinet.

I want to thank Frank Torres for his always great advice and guidance. If you don't have a dedicated sales person who plays guitar, ask for him. You will not be disappointed.

If there was one thing I would ask: It has some cabinet emulations that I wish I could just turn off altogether. I have a Quad Cortex with Cabinet emulations. Maybe I am just not fully up to speed yet.

You can turn the lights on and off!

Great, great cabinet!!!
LFR-212
I got this to use with my Quad Cortex using the FRFR setting. It Feels like a reel Amp hitting you in the chest. Doesn't even need to be cranked. I don't think you will be disappointed. I bought another one a week later to have a stereo setup.
The best FRFR guitar speaker, still not quite the real thing.
I've owned the Line 6 Powercab 112+, the Fender FR12, and various powered PA speakers, and of them all, this one gets you closest to the feel of a guitar cab behind you on stage. It's also the more transparent to my ears, among the guitar-focused FRFR group. The light is pretty cool and I get a lot of compliments from other musicians on the cab, overall. Would rate it a 4.5/5 for the sound, but giving it a 4 because the tolex or whatever they used to cover it (seems like maybe a cheaper or imitation tolex?) is fairly delicate, and seems to scuff and scratch much easier than my other speaker cabs. I've used it for maybe half a dozen gigs and looks more worn than cabs I've had for a couple years. Definitely get a padded cover or case if you care about how it looks.
