Unbeatable Value from ESP LTD

Grab the ESP LTD Eclipse EC-256 solidbody electric guitar for a huge value in a rock-ready instrument. You'll find the fast playability, flexible tone, and quality construction of the Eclipse EC-256 far surpasses most guitars in this price range. You'll get rich, snappy tone from the mahogany body. And the set-neck design gives you sustain for days. A pair of ESP humbucking pickups onboard the ESP LTD Eclipse EC-256 solidbody electric guitar gives you a great foundation for a wide variety of styles, plus the extra versatility of push-pull coil tapping.

Classic looks with modern performance

Nothing screams hard rock like ESP's timeless Eclipse body style. The extra mass of this single-cutaway design gives the Eclipse EC-256 truly epic sustain; whereas its slightly arched top provides you with comfortable hand positioning, no matter your picking style. Add to that a super-sharp cutaway, which gives you open access to the EC-256's upper frets, and you're ready for unobstructed playing freedom.

Set-neck construction

The set-in mahogany neck on the ESP LTD Eclipse EC-256 provides a more solid connection to the body than you get with a bolt-on neck design. That means better vibrational transfer from the neck to the body, which results in faster attack and longer-lasting sustain. Plug in the Eclipse EC-256, turn your amplifier up, and you'll see exactly what we mean.

ESP LTD - a huge value with ESP quality

ESP LTD guitars were created to bring a more affordable version of the classic designs and quality of ESP guitars to a new market. What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Reviews

Great playability, great sound
This guitar is great. If you want to play hard rock, it'll do that. If you want to play mellow blues, it'll do that. If you want to play smooth jazz, it'll do that. It's also a fantastic rhythm guitar in general if you are looking for that.

It's playable, well-finished, and has (IMO) a thinner and faster neck than traditional single cuts. It also coil splits, which will give you a bit of twang if you want it (but not too much).

This guitar cannot do everything, however. If you are looking to play super twang-y blues or country, this is probably not the right guitar for you. If you are after a traditional strat or tele single-coil sound, this guitar is not for you. It complements those sounds nicely, but this guitar is made for lots of legato play, it's smooth, not choppy.

Things that sound great on this guitar
- Crazy Train
- Sum 41
- Green Day
- Chet Baker (jazz)
- AC/DC
- Guns and Roses
- Bobby Charles (blues)

Things I would use a different guitar for
- Stevie Ray Vaughn
- Chic
pretty good for the price
Pickups are adequate but could be better, the build quality is pretty nice on my specific guitar. The volume and tone knobs and nut are pretty cheap but over all not a bad guitar for the price. A pretty nice platform to build what you want. Not the most comfortable to sit down and play in my personal experience but it feels fine standing up. Thanks Matthew LaMarche for all the help!
Great Guitar
This guitar is really good quality for the price. The only issue I had was the action was a little high for me, but I easily fixed it no problem. I haven't played in 20 years and wanted to play again, and this guitar is perfect for me. I really like the white with black hardware and also the push pull single coil split

Incredible Guitar at this Price Point
I haven't played much guitar since the mid 90's, have pretty much played bass exclusively since then, but had an itch to get a guitar to noodle around with, play some Sabbath, doomy type stuff. Finally pulled the trigger on one of these and I'm incredibly happy I did. This is the best playing guitar I have not only ever owned but have ever played period. Came set up and ready to play other than minor tuning adjustment. I will want to add some heavier gauge strings here soon but it's fine right now. Neck and fret board feel extremely fast, frets feel great, sits in my lap while seated really well and feels good standing up with no real neck dive to speak of. Was wondering how the pickups would sound and so far not bad, get a good clean tone and a really good chunky/beefy tone as well going through Randall RG1503-212. As always Sweetwater and my sales associate Justin were great, checking in to make sure everything went smoothly and that I was enjoying the guitar. If you're looking for a single cut style guitar and high end LP's are just out of your price range I highly recommend the EC-256, a lot of guitar in this price range.
Music background: Playing since 1985, bass since 1996
Perfect
First of all great service Sweetwater.
About the guitar, I'm impress, its a great guitar, and the best part is that you can switch between Humbuckers and singles very easy, it gives you a lot of versatility to play what you want. So if you want to play metal, you got it, you want to play jazz, blues, you got it too, incredible quality, and it looks so good, I'm in love, I'm so glad.
