Built for Speed from the Ground Up

Wishing you could find a technically inclined instrument without breaking the bank? Stop torturing yourself and pick up the Sire Larry Carlton X5! This solidbody electric guitar bears all the hallmarks of a top-shelf shredder. It's built around an aerodynamic mahogany "X"-shaped body with a spotlight-ready ash veneer top. Its lightning-quick C-shape hard maple neck is capped with a ruler-flat 24-fret, 14-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard. Plug into your favorite high-gain amp, and the X5's scorching-hot LC Modern humbuckers are guaranteed to light things up. You also get a Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo in case there are any harmonic-squealy dive-bombs in your future. Pearloid/abalone fingerboard inlays, aggressive-looking black hardware, and a sleek satin finish round out the Sire X5.

High-performance construction

The X5 was built for players with a serious need for speed. This high-performance axe brandishes a comfortably contoured "X"-shaped mahogany body, which is topped with an eye-catching ash veneer. Its hard maple neck features a meticulously sculpted "C"-shaped profile, and its 24-fret, 14-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard, which includes smooth rolled edges, was tailor-made for rapid-fire alternate picking, sweep-picked arpeggios, greased-lightning tapping runs, and neoclassical fretboard pyrotechnics.

Scorching-hot humbucker tone

When it comes to harmonic-rich grind and metallic screams, the Sire X5's LC Modern humbuckers definitely don't disappoint. These pickups boast a definite contemporary sound, yielding thunderous growls, searing leads, and just enough midrange to cut through a full-throttle rock mix. The X5 includes a 5-way pickup selector switch for added sonic flexibility, along with global volume and tone knobs.

Ready to dive and squeal

When Sweetwater guitarists partake in extreme whammy abuse, only a double-locking trem, like the X5's Floyd Rose Special, can get the job done right. This ultra-stable tremolo tackles subtle dips and warbles with the utmost in taste and precision, and when you want to execute harmonic squealies and subterrestrial dive-bombs, you can do so with zero tuning woes. Simply put, if you're into athletic feats of whammy bar gymnastics, the X5 will not only keep up with you; it will do so without even breaking a sweat.

Sire Larry Carlton X5 Features:

  • A built-for-shred performer with an aerodynamic "X"-shaped body
  • Mahogany body topped with a stunning ash veneer
  • Lightning-quick C-shape hard maple neck
  • 24-fret, 14-inch-radius rosewood fingerboard with smooth rolled edges
  • LC Modern humbuckers deliver a contemporary high-output sound
  • Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo facilitates a full range of expressive pitch pyrotechnics
  • Eye-catching pearloid/abalone fingerboard inlays, aggressive-looking black hardware, and a sleek satin finish

What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Worth every penny and much more
This is my 2nd Sire guitar and I can't say enough about them. I also own a X10 and it plays like a dream as this one does. Try one if you don't like it I would be very surprised. They are well worth the money and extremely well made. There bass guitars are great to, at least the one I bought is.
Music background: I am 73 yr's old. been playing since I was 10.
