Student Debuts Are Best with Leblanc

Learning to play the oboe doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Keep things simple for your beginning oboist with the LOB211S Debut student oboe from Leblanc, a captivating introduction to the world of oboes. The Debut is equipped with features designed to make learning the oboe as straightforward as possible, including a simplified conservatory key system, hard-wearing cork pads, and stainless steel springs for smooth, responsive playability. Meanwhile, a Reso-Tone resin body gives the Debut unparalleled durability and tuning stability. Overall, the Debut is a breeze to play and maintain, making it a fantastic option for players embarking on their musical journeys. Contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer today to get your budding oboe player started on the right note!

Resilient Reso-Tone body and bell

When it comes to student instruments, durability is of the utmost importance. For this reason, Leblanc crafted the Debut from their proprietary Reso-Tone resin material, which yields a wood-like tone with enhanced physical resilience. Unlike wood, resin resists extreme temperatures and humidity. It doesn’t contract and expand as drastically as wood, meaning the player can rely on the Debut to maintain stable intonation no matter the conditions — an impressive feat, considering oboes are notoriously hard to keep in tune!

Power-forged simplified conservatory keywork

Sporting a simplified conservatory system, the Debut has only what the beginner player needs to succeed — none of the additional keys you’d find on an intermediate or professional model. This allows students to focus on the basics of the oboe without feeling overwhelmed by the features they don’t yet need. The Debut’s keys are power-forged from nickel silver and heavily plated with silver for maximum longevity.

Leblanc: crafting high-quality student instruments

In 1905, Georges Leblanc purchased Ets. D. Noblet, an instrument maker that had helped put France at the center of woodwind manufacturing by producing impeccable instruments for the French court. Georges and his son Leon, an accomplished clarinetist, merged old-world craftsmanship with scientific advances in acoustic design and manufacturing to produce a line of clarinets with remarkable playability and consistency. Leblanc launched Leblanc USA in 1946 with the assistance of Vito Pascucci, who had earned a reputation as a skilled instrument repairman for the Glenn Miller band. While Leblanc France focused on creating professional-level instruments, Leblanc USA turned its attention to crafting high-quality student instruments, which were released under the Vito imprint in 1960. Currently, as a part of Conn-Selmer’s stunning roster of brands, Leblanc continues to produce student instruments that are distinguished by a high level of playability and robust feature sets.
