George and Leo’s Take on the Classic P-style

This sleek reimagining of the ’90s-era LB-100 is G&L’s answer to the timeless P-style. Its streamlined poplar body and split pickup supply the bloom, warmth, and attack you need to achieve rubber-band soul grooves to stage-rumbling rock riffage. The familiar single volume and tone controls give you blazing access to decades of coveted tones. And G&L’s Saddle-Lock bridge anchors strings directly into the wood for increased transfer of vibrational energy. Playability wise, the LB-100’s 34-inch scale hard rock maple neck with maple fingerboard is absolutely flawless. In many ways, it’s Leo Fender and George Fullerton's P-style, perfected. Rounding out the look and vibe of the LB-100 are G&L’s precision open-gear tuners with large-format clover tuning keys. Experience the latter stages in P-style evolution with the G&L Tribute LB-100 bass from Sweetwater.

Sleek poplar body

Leo Fender and George Fullerton found a way to top the classic P-style with G&L's LB-100 — and by extension, today's Tribute LB-100. This bass's body has a familiar shape and form-fitting contours that even traditional players are sure to love. It's crafted from lightweight poplar to supply a reduced stage weight with no sacrifice to warmth or note definition, which means you can rock harder and longer under the lights without feeling it in the morning.

Rock-solid maple neck

A bass lives and dies by its neck. We’re pleased to report that the G&L Tribute LB-100’s hard rock maple neck more than holds its own against known classics and contemporaries. Its beautifully carved medium “C” profile supplies a substantial feel in the hand without getting in the way of a performance. And that rosewood fingerboard is going to win you over with its silky smooth feel, ideal for slow or fast grooves.

Alnico split pickup

For fans of the classic ’50s and ’60s sound, nothing tops the “precision” punch and growl of Leo Fender and George Fullerton’s first bass guitar. A key ingredient in this bass’s mix-gluing flavor is its Alnico-magnet split pickup. The LB-100 looks to the original recipe for its pickup construction, using Alnico polepieces and modern winding techniques to deliver a timeless tone with enough output to handle modern styles of rock and metal.

Saddle-Lock Bridge

The Tribute LB-100’s Saddle-Lock bridge reduces lateral movement of the saddle pieces by tightening an Allen screw on the side of the bridge. Additionally, the Saddle-Lock bridge has a solid protrusion on its backside that is sunk firmly into the instrument’s body wood. Together, these two features make it easier for string energy to travel into the body and translate into a rich, resonant, and sustaining sound.

G&L Tribute LB-100 4-string Bass Guitar Features:

  • A reimagining of the 1990s-era LB-100 provides incredible tone and playability
  • Leo Fender and George Fullerton's take on the timeless P-style bass guitar
  • Alnico split pickup gives you ’50s and ’60s soul with the growl and output to handle modern music
  • 34-inch scale hard rock maple neck with maple fingerboard is absolutely flawless
  • Saddle-Lock bridge enhances resonance and sustain

Great bass!

I recently joined an Iron Maiden tribute band and felt like I needed a back up bass for the project, you know, just in case something catastrophic happened to my American Fender P. Looking at options and pricing, I was intrigued at the reviews and comments on this bass all through the internet. Sweetwater got this exact one in stock and boom, I had to pull the trigger....

So anyway, this thing is BEAUTIFUL! It does not play or sound like a cheap Indonesian made instrument. The finish is impeccable, the pickups have a huge amount of output and they have strong presence in the mids and trebles that my American P does not! Remember, i grabbed this as a back up for my Iron Maiden Trib and this just might be the one I play normally! It has a strong clank after set up with some Monel flats! Oh, that bridge, Leo and George got it right and I LOVE this bridge. Sustain for days and it feels more alive than any bass I have played. Stop thinking about it and just buy it!

Thank you Sweetwater, and Nick Graham for the suggestion of this bass! I love the G&L LB-100 and Sweetwater! Thank you again. I would give more stars if I cold

Great Bass

I have owned or played several different basses in my 30+ years of playing bass from Peavey T 20, to Fender jazz, Squire jazz, and Ibenez Tallman. But at this point I believe the G&L Tribute LB 100 is the best that I have played. Anyone looking for a super nice mid priced bass I would highly recommend the Tribute LB 100. Great bass fair price.

Amazing, with one flaw

I had a great experience ordering a demo unit of this bass through Sweetwater. Prompt shipping and everything arrived safely. This bass sounds amazing and the fit/finish is great, with one minor problem: I had some humming through the amp at high volume. This really surprised me because the split coil design of precision pickups are normally hum canceling. I took the pickguard off and found that the shielding paint was really poorly applied at the factory, so I fixed it using copper tape. Now I have an awesome bass with no hum that has an awesome growl to it at any volume. Seriously, G&L precision pickups sound better than quite a few aftermarket pickups.
