This 2-legged Hat Stand Doesn't Budge!

Most 2-legged stands have a little wobble to them. It's sort of the nature of the beast. But not the Ludwig Atlas Pro Hi-hat Stand. This rock-solid beauty is perfectly balanced thanks to a Centroid 3-point stability system, which elevates the back of the pedal to create three solid points of contact, saving valuable space for pedals & stands without sacrificing playability. Not only is the Atlas Pro full of groundbreaking design features, but its rugged steel tubing is about the toughest you'll find at any price point.

Fine-tune spring tension

With six adjustable tension settings, you can customize the Atlas Pro to whatever feels most natural to you: fluid, choppy, and all shades inbetween. Ludwig's Progressive Action Linkage forces hats shut as you speed through the stroke, for crisp closed strikes and defined cymbal pumps.

Keep your stand from sliding

Have you ever thought about the force you inflict on your hi-hat pedal with every stomp? Ludwig has. That's why your Atlas Pro comes equipped with Spurlock heel plate anchors, which dig into carpet to prevent sliding.

Angle cymbals to your liking

Ludwig's Aerodisc bottom cymbal tilter angles cymbals however you like, then locks them in place for problem-free performance. This is a great way to control the sloshiness of your open strikes.

Maintain three points of contact at all times

You may have heard it said that the tripod is the most stable structure in nature. The Atlas Pro proves this with its Centroid 3-point stability system, which effectively turns the two legs and footplate into a tripod structure for exceptional stability. If rocksteady performance is what you're after in a two-legger, Sweetwater drummers highly recommend the Ludwig Atlas Pro Hi-hat stand.

Ludwig Atlas Pro Hi-hat Stand Features:

  • A 2-legged stand that won't budge
  • Centroid 3-point stability system forms a rocksteady tripod base
  • Breaks down compactly for easy transit
  • Vice-Grip tube joint has an integrated memory lock for quick setups
  • Nylon-lined, ultra-tough steel tubing is whisper quiet
  • Aerodisc bottom cymbal tilter locks in angle of attack
  • Six adjustable spring settings tailor resistance to your playing style
  • Progressive Action Linkage forces hats shut as you approach the end of a stroke
  • Spurlock heel plate anchors dig into carpet to prevent stand creep
  • Base legs rotate to accommodate stands & pedals
  • Infinitely adjustable footboard angle with removable toe stop

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Set aside the toe stop and have a perfect Hi-hat

This is the most stable two-leg Hi-Hat pedal I've ever used, as good as any three leg ones I own. It's also a totally different design than any other ones I have. Once you get the adjustment process down and familiarized it's fully customizable. The tilter threw me for a bit but it works as well as the standard ones.
Music background: AV professional and Casual Pro on drums.

One of my favorite items.

Buttery smooth. The lower mechanism is genius. Of course the heel portion has a pivot but the front of the pedal has a linkage/pivot for a straight pull on the chain and no side to side play. Impressive!

Very good hi-hat stand, except for one crucial part

The Atlas Pro hardware is very functional and very heavy-duty, and this stand is probably the heaviest of the bunch. Everything about the stand is pretty innovative, and although it feels innovative just to call itself innovative in some portions, it's still a functional and good stand, except for one portion; the Progressive Action Linkage (PAL).

A lot of people have seen problems with the hi-hat stand jamming, or the chain attached to the footboard becoming detached from the linkage, and that is due to the mishandling of the PAL. It has a keyrod that is clearly meant to be utilized with a tuning key, so you'd expect it to have some sort of intended function, but it is INCREDIBLY finicky and leads to the two issues mentioned before. It seems that this is used to adjust the footboard angle as well, and unfortunately messing with it causes the entire stand to become unusable in the process.

For your own sake, I'd exercise caution messing with this and really doing some research about the PAL beforehand so you don't accidentally mess up the entire functionality of the stand, or just leave it alone entirely. I'm not a stranger when it comes to hardware, I've been a drummer for about 10 years, and even I was stumped figuring out how to get it fixed. Other than this pretty crucial and prominent issue, the stand is worth the investment. If you want something that's more simple but just as heavy-duty, DW 5000s/9000s and Tama Iron/Speed Cobras and still very good alternatives as well!

Junk

Heavy duty for sure but near impossible to set up !!! Ludwig should crawl away in shame!
Music background: Pro when younger but hobbyist now!

Over engineered

Do not buy this stand Ludwig should be ashamed of themselves for this design if you don't have it just right this stand is not going to work, and you can forget getting height ajustmentment on the pedal best I could get was about a inch above the floor plate. I also watched YouTube video on set up still no luck God forbid if you lose the lock screw you will be in trouble and won't be using a hi hat stand to play that night.
