Classic Vintage Tone 50+ Years in the Making

Conceived in 1968, the Laney Supergroup LA30BL 30-watt tube head never had the chance to see the light of day until now. This single-channel, non-master volume style head packs an all-tube design ready to dole out vintage tone. Sweetwater has found that the LA30BL’s 30-watt output, simple layout, and relatively clean, uncompressed sound make it a surefire choice for pedals and lovers of warm, classic tone. Take a glimpse inside the LA30BL and you’ll find a cozy collection of 12AX7A and EL34 tubes. You’ll have four inputs at your disposal, with two relegated to treble and two to bass. A 3-band EQ, gain control, and presence control give you everything you need to sculpt a rockin’ sound. Dip your guitar tone in rich, vintage sound with this modern-day Supergroup amp head — its an absolute classic rock machine!

The Laney LA30BL makes its glorious debut

It was 1968, and after experimentation with designs using the LA100BL, Laney landed on a prototype for the LA30BL. With sweet, warm tone, the model quickly endeared itself to its creators. But, alas, a production run of the LA30BL was not to be — until now that is! The LA30BL features a Class AB power section, based on the concept that music is a waveform and linear in nature. With the LA30BL, this Class AB power section splits the input signal into +ve and -ve sections of the waveform, sending them to separate tubes and amplifying them accordingly. Not to mention, the inputs can be jumpered and a vintage design box frame output transformer delivers high quality performance. The LA30BL was designed to be paired with the Laney Supergroup LA212, but you can use this amp head with any high quality speaker cabinet. So sit back, buckle in, and prepare for tone that’ll rock your world.

Laney amps: stunning since ’67

The journey of Laney Amplification harkens all the way back to 1967. Lyndon Laney left behind the British group Band of Joy (and members John Bonham and Robert Plant) to venture into the expanding realms of amplifier building. From Lyndon’s family garage to stacking huge stages at the disposal of some of history’s greatest groups like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Kiss, Laney and its legacy of high-quality amp engineering has found tremendous worldwide acclaim for decades. With a long list of sound systems and characterful heads, cabinets, combos, and pedals for guitar, bass, keyboards, and more, Laney offers a stunning lineup of top-tier products with an enviably versatile appeal.

Reviews

Beefy
You can definitely hear Sabbath in this little beast. It's a very solid, loud 30 watts. I haven't had this amp very long, and I'm more used to Fender amps, but so far, I'm loving it. It has a very nice clean sound at low-ish volume, starts getting dirty pretty quickly, and it has soooooooo much bass! You might not need this much bass, but you'll want it when you mess with it. It does some very cool octave down harmonic wizardry as well. Does it djent? Nah. Does it doom? Most definitely! I pair it with a JC-40 a lot though, and that tightens up everything a good bit. It seems like a really excellent reissue. It's a lot of amp for the money.
