Bring Your Music to Life with the Korg Kross 2

The Korg Kross synth workstation has been a huge hit at Sweetwater. Now the Korg Kross 2 raises the bar with more power, more presets (1075), more polyphony (120 voices), a new sampling engine, sample trigger pads, and more. Still amazingly affordable, the Korg Kross 2 61 packs 61 synth-action keys, a boatload of class-leading sounds — including Sweetwater's exclusive KR2-B3 Organ and Bonus Banks — and a bevy of intuitive and powerful production tools into a svelte, eye-catching chassis that weighs in at under 10 pounds. It will even run on six AA batteries, for impromptu busking in the park. With a mic input, a built-in audio recorder, a 16-track MIDI sequencer, drum track, arpeggiator, and Electribe-derived step sequencer, the Korg Kross 2 61 will bring your music to life.

Korg Kross 2 is the only instrument you need

The Korg Kross 2 is the only instrument you need. With its class-leading soundset, Kross 2 is your one-stop music production machine. Korg Kross 2 delivers a broad range of sounds that leave even previous-generation flagship models in the dust. And the quality is simply stunning, bolstered by PCM data that's approximately twice as large as predecessors like the X50 and the PS60. For your gigging pleasure, Korg has lavished attention on frequently-used sounds such as rock/jazz organ, strings, brass, and synth sounds. But you also get ear candy flavors like toy piano, accordion, combo organ, church organ, and even a vintage tape sampler, along with cutting-edge dance music/electronica sounds — unique sounds you won't find in any other synth at this price. And with Sound Selector and a favorites function, finding and organizing your sounds for instant onstage deployment is a piece of cake.

Korg's pro-level EDS-i sound engine with 134 killer effects

Korg's EDS-i is a studio-grade sound engine distilled from the EDS/EDS-X sound engines found on Korg's most advanced instruments. EDS-i lets you use a total of seven effects simultaneously: five insert effects plus two master effects. You get essentials such as delay, reverb, chorus, flanger, and rotary speaker, but there's also amp modeling powered by Korg's REMS modeling technology. There's even a robot voice vocoder! With 134 different high-quality effects onboard, you'll never run out of sonic inspiration.

Gorgeous sounds to make your music sound lush

Korg Kross 2 61 is loaded with piano, electric piano, and drum sounds that have been taken from flagship Korg instruments used by the pros — giving the Korg Kross 2 a soundset that surpasses other instruments in its price range. The grand piano, for example, includes lavishly-sampled decays with three different levels of velocity. Korg has even sampled damper pedal noises, juicing your performances with the ultimate in realism and nuance. And for the ultimate in sonic versatility, we've included Sweetwater’s KR2-B3 Organ and Bonus Banks.

Sweetwater-exclusive KR2-B3 Organ and Bonus Banks

Your Korg Kross 2 comes with Sweetwater’s KROSS II Bonus SD card that includes our Director of Product Optimization Daniel Fisher's gig-worthy B-3 Organ simulation, four Bonus Expansion Program Banks (with 512 additional Programs), up-to-date owners manuals and guides, and USB drivers for both Mac and Windows. To kick-start your creativity, you'll also get 24 of Daniel's full-fidelity, stereo WAV files of Blues/Jazz jams, in all 12 keys, at both slow and fast tempos. That's a truckload of extra premium content — only available at Sweetwater!

Poly synth, midi sequencer, step sequencer, sampling, audio recording in one portable keyboard!
I bought this because I don't want to use a computer and a mouse. I wanted as much in "one" keyboard workstation as I could get without spending thousands of bucks. I have grown to like this Kross 2. Once you get into how the menus are set up, it's easy to use and highly flexible. To me a majority of the 1000 or so sounds are not stellar, yet there are many that are very good and more importantly, useful. (A lot of synths have great sounding patches yet you can't use many of them with other instruments or synths because they dominate a mix.) You can program your own sounds easily and save them. If you are into basic sounds like "electric piano", "organ", "synth pads", there are a lot of variations to chose from.
Having a step sequencer and a 16 track midi sequencer allows for making quick demos. Further menu diving allows for alterations, editing, and tweeks. You can record guitar or sing into the audio recorder over your midi sequences.
I purchased my Kross 2 a couple of years ago when I believe the price was like $. I guess Korg figured out they had a winner and the price is now over $. (The next Korg level up is about twice the price, so comparatively this is still a good deal.)
It is very light weight and on a desk it doesn't feel cheap or like it will fall apart if you hit it a bit hard. I don't gig anymore but carrying this is easy. I believe it's like 7 pounds.
MIDI out lets you hook up synth modules. I have a Behringer CAT that works well when using the sequencer.
NOTE: Years ago I bought a used Korg Kross "1" but sold it because it was lacking in many departments. Forget the "1"! But Korg really stepped up with this "2" version! It seems there's nothing within the same price to compare this with.
Music background: Used to gig & record professionally. Owned combo organs, Clavinet, Rhodes, Old Wurli, EML 101, Roland Jupiter 4, Alesis QS 8, Ensoniq QS80, etc

This thing's CRAZY!
I'm not a *real* keyboard player. I just hunt and peck until I find a melody or chord that works, and go for it. I have a MicroKORG, but wanted something with full sized, non-weighted keys, and a ton of onboard sounds.

The Kross 2 is perfect for my keyboard wants and needs, and then some. In the short time I've had it, it's already inspired several pieces of music, just as a result of me flipping through sounds.

I doubt that I'll ever utilize even half of the capabilities in this thing, but it's nice to know the options are there.

Herbie Hancock I Am Not
Bravo Korg! My sales rep at Sweetwater was right on the money recommending the Korg Kross 2. I have a vintage Roland keyboard that has retro sounds that just were not doing it for me. The Korg Kross 2 is affordable, extremely lightweight, and with YouTube tutorials, very easy to learn. I look forward to years of fun and creativity with this little gem.

Great keyboard
Love this keyboard! It sounds great and the controls are very intuitive.

Of all my keyboards The Kross is the best !!
My fellow musicians. You won't find a better keyboard for this price. Upon arrival I opened the box, powered it up and started playing piano sounds. I tapped a button that when I struck a note it immediately played a drum rhythm that matched the sound. I had not tried any other feature and I was already jamming and improving on this keyboard. The actual keys are a tad bit larger than most in this class. That was a welcomed improvement. Add to this the ease of use, the excellent sound engine and the list goes on. I have a Roland DS-61 that is in this class and price range. The Roland product is excellent, however this keyboard trumps that one easily. Way to go Korg! you really out did yourself with this Synth.
