Iconic '80s Chorus and Much More

The Keeley Dyno My Roto Tri-chorus effects pedal crams the lush sound of some of the most popular rackmount chorus units from the 1980s into a pedalboard-friendly stomp box. With knobs for Rate, Depth, Texture, and Blend, you're able to find the exact modulated tone you're looking for. But it doesn't end there. The Dyno My Roto also contains rotary and flanger effects that exude the same analog warmth and great control as the tri-chorus setting. Pedal companies have been struggling for years to replicate the sound of those rack units. With the Dyno My Roto, Keeley nailed it.

Tri-chorus

If you turned on the radio in the 1980s, chances are you heard the modulated tones of chorused guitars. And the Dyno My Piano rackmount chorus unit was usually the piece of gear that delivered the goods. Ever since the '80s, pedal companies have been searching for a way to put those analog choruses into a pedal. But their complex design made it exceedingly difficult. Luckily for all of us, Robert Keeley found a way. The Dyna My Roto effects pedal puts those famous and infamous tones at your feet with an authenticity that has never before been achieved.

Rotary speaker simulation

Once Keeley got the tri-chorus sound where they wanted it, they kept on going. With a flick of the face-mounted mini toggle switch you can also pull up a great-sounding rotary speaker simulation. The same pedal that plants your tone firmly in the 1980s can also allow you to cop faux organ parts. And you can even control the proximity effect, making it sound like you're closer or further from the rotating speaker cabinet. This really helps you dial in your sound.

Rotoflange

Inside the Dyna My Roto you have a beautiful-sounding analog chorus and rotary speaker simulation, so why not also add in a flanger? That's just what Robert Keeley did. A single control will determine the amount of swoosh and depth that envelops your guitar tone. And it exudes the same analog warmth as the other effects in the pedal. This flanger sounds so good, many Sweetwater guitarists would have it on their pedalboard if it was the only effect the Dyna My Roto offered.

Keeley Dyno My Roto Tri-chorus, Rotary, and Flange Pedal Features:

  • Pedal that replicates the sound of '80s rackmount chorus units
  • Controls for ratio, depth, texture, and blend
  • Features Tri-Chorus, Rotary, and Rotoflange effects
  • Mini toggle selects the desired effect
  • Pedalboard-friendly size
What is Certified Open Box Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call "Certified Open Box" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

Certified Open Box (also known as a demo) means we’ve had it out of the box for our YouTube channel, displayed at events, tested in our studio, or maybe it was in a customer’s hands for a few days and isn’t ‘factory fresh’ as a result. Every Certified Open Box item we sell has Sweetwater’s 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty and has been tested and verified up to ‘new’ specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it’s in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Certified Open Box item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!

Reviews

AMAZINGGGGG!!!!!!
WOW! What a pedal! I initially bought this pedal for the tri-chorus (going for that 80s sound)…but this more than exceeded my expectations.

The chorus is great, just what I was looking for, but I surprisingly found myself using the flanger and especially the rotary a lot more! The rotary adds a more subtle modulation effect, and when you play it almost feels as though you have slight reverb on in the background. The movement and space it affects always sounds good where ever you set the knobs at. The sensitivity makes the instrument come alive…But don't take my word for it, try it out yourself!!!!

In conclusion, BUY THIS PEDAL!!!!!

Thanks to Sweetwater and Jonathan Pass for being awesome!
Great pedal
Sits on my pedalboard and is usually used every practice or gig. Get anything from a Leslie to a univibe and an amazing 80's type flanger all in one pedal. Got my vote.

Lush, Chewy and 3-Dimensional
The Dyno My Roto is lush, chewy and 3-dimensional at every setting. I'll add my voice to the chorus of raves (see what I did, there?) about this three-function pedal, and state unequivocally that this is the best, most useful modulation pedal I own. In mono. All those glistening, sparkly '80s-chorus guitar sounds are on tap, (Crowded House, Simple Minds, Cyndi Lauper, and on and on) the mono Leslie is far and away the best I've heard, (though lacking ramp up/down functions and external speed control) and the rotoflange, while less universally useful, beats pants off Dunlop's Rotovibe. All good news. So why did I bother to weigh in? I have notes. Very little has been made of the level control in other reviews. It's main function is to prevent volume jumps when engaging the pedal, but you can push it into overdrive, like a Boss CE1. Not the same sound(s) but potentially useful. Next up, KEYS, glorious KEYS! It may be a fair dig that modern digital synths and workstations with line level outputs can potentially clip this pedal, but vintage electro-mechanical keyboards will not and THIS is where the Dyno shines. My Korg SV1 Stage vintage has quarter inch outputs specifically designed for feeding my vintage tube amps, and HOLY, MOLY, when I did...you couldn't beat the smile off my face with a baseball bat. Plug in a Wurlitzer and you're having Breakfast In America; plug in a Rhodes and listen to the Steeliest of Dans. Yamaha CP70/80? Hello, vintage Elton! And of course it's lovely on a Hammond B3 in all three modes. Yes, the SV1 has these effects and more built in, but none of them even come close to the Keeley. And if you do happen to have some synths with too hot an output, you could use a ReAmp box or a cheap attenuator to match levels. I'll be picking up a second Dyno My Roto for the guitar rig.

80s In a Box
Simply put, this is a very fun pedal. As soon as I plugged it in I had "Photograph" by Def Leppard in my ear. 3 effects in one pedal so its an exceptional value and can free up space on your board.

However with that being said, none of them are "perfect". For example, some great chorus effects on here, but it doesn't quite have the flexibility of the Boss Stereo Chorus. Same for the phaser, not quite the versatility of an MXR EVH. Please don't take this as a negative though, as I have dialed in settings I thoroughly enjoy for all 3 effects and highly recommend this pedal for its value.

This pedal helps my back!
When it comes to that guitar thru a Leslie sound, I break out my Leslie 122. It has been modified as far as size and weight to make it easier to lug around. But at my age, that's getting old. I ran across this pedal and decided to give it a try. I must say, I was impressed. Can I tell the difference between the real thing and the pedal? Of course I can. But nobody in the audience can. Enough said.
