Mic Your Snare and Kick with the Best

Kick your drum recordings up a few notches with the Audix KSCOMBO Kick and Snare Combo Microphone Pack. This 2-piece microphone bundle comprises two Audix microphones: the D6 bass drum microphone and the i5 instrument microphone for your snare drum. The D6 has a specially-voiced frequency response and VLM diaphragm to deliver a fast, responsive sound that punches cleanly through the mix. Meanwhile, the i5 absolutely shines on snare drums. It’s well respected here at Sweetwater for its distortion-free response at every dynamic level. Together, the microphones in the KSCOMBO provide a solid foundation for any drummer’s microphone setup. Just add tom mics, overheads, and room mics as your kit expands, and the mics in the KSCOMBO will serve you well for years.

D6: Dynamite on kick drums

The Audix D6 is tailor-made to capture the weighty punch of any kick drum. It has a low-mass diaphragm for near-instantaneous reaction to the beater. The 30Hz-15kHz frequency response features pleasing bumps at 60Hz, 4–5K, and 10–12K to help it push through a mix. Best of all, the D6 is incredibly forgiving. It doesn’t depend on finding the sweet spot of the drum. Instead, its VLM (Very Low Mass) diaphragm technology helps the D6 capture the true character of your kick drum in just about any mic location.

i5: Inspiring snare sounds in any environment

Throw the i5 on your snare drum, and it’ll capture a stellar tone. It has a cardioid polar pattern to keep the hi-hat from bleeding into the signal. The cardioid pickup pattern also rejects other off-axis noise around it — a massive plus when you’re playing live. This dynamic microphone effortlessly handles high SPLs, so you can put it on any snare drum and expect distortion-free results every time. The flat cap design and bulletproof durability make it a no-brainer for touring acts.

Audix KSCOMBO Kick and Snare Combo Microphone Pack Features:

  • Easy solution for miking-up your kick and snare drums
  • Includes: 1 D6 for kick, 1 i5 for snare, and 1 DVICE rim-mount mic clip
  • Excels in both live and studio applications

Reviews

Audix Drum Mics Just Sound Good
The D6 definitely has a sound, but it's effortless to get it to sound great. The i5 isn't my favorite on snare, but it's incredible for guitar. I recently got a d6 for my floor tom. If you need a deep boom from the floor tom, it's killer.

You can't go wrong with Audix.
Great purchase
AUDIX combo Kick and Snare
Sounds great. Couldn't have picked a better combo for our drums.
Audix i5 and Audix D6- Both Excellent
First of all, the Audix i5 is tough as nails- comparable to the SM57. It's all metal and can definitely take a beating- possibly even more so than the SM57. It sounds great, is rugged and is a great brand. Same goes for the Audix D6. Excellent sounding kick mic and built literally like a tank. Both mics are excellent. I'm not sure about the previous guy's review. Maybe he got a faulty mic. Seems unlikely though. Anywho, this is a great package and should be praised for how good they are sonically and physically.
Music background: Touring musician

Getting the most for the money isn't just a big deal for our customers, it's also what the artists and engineers at Sweetwater look for when we're shopping for our own gear. That's why we're such fans of Audix microphones. Early on, we discovered must-have Audix mics such as the handheld OM2, the tight and punchy D6 kick mic, and the super-versatile i5. You'll also find Audix specialty hardware like CabGrabbers and D-Vice mic holders in our studios and live rigs. Their drum mic bundles offer amazing value, while our house of worship customers love their MicroBoom line for miking choirs. No matter the application, Sweetwater is happy to recommend the right Audix gear for your needs.
