Transform Your Keyboard Stand into a Utility Tray

The infinitely useful On-Stage Stands KSA7100 utility tray attaches to your X-style keyboard stand, transforming it into a 28" x 14.5" table. Easily place your lighting controller, turntable, MIDI controller, desktop synth, FX unit, drum machine, mixer, equipment rack, monitors, laptop, and more at a comfortable working height. At Sweetwater, we've even placed our percussion instruments on top of the KSA7100, using it as a trap stand. EVA strips create a slip-free surface for your gear.

Easy to set up, easy to use

The KSA7100 is a breeze to set up and use. Adjustment slots connect the utility tray's brackets to your keyboard stand, bracing it against the keyboard support arms. Tension-locking knobs, along with the EVA pads that line the inner bracket arms, secure the tray in place. With the On-Stage Stands KSA7100, adding a super-sturdy utility tray to your rig is a piece of cake.

Reviews

Excellent Addition For Stage & Studio
Based on previous reviews I knew that this piece had some heft to it. The tray is indeed robust. I had some concern as to whether it could sit on the second tier of an On-Stage double X-style stand without being too top-heavy. I had modified an extra set of second-tier arms by removing the retainer clips at the front end in order that the lip of the tray would sit flush on the arms. As it turns out, the setup is perfect. The tray accommodates a KORG Minilogue and a Mackie 802-VLZ3 compact mixer (see attached photos).

Interestingly, the instructions that come with the KSA7100 include two different methods of setup, depending on whether you have a single X stand or a double X stand. For single X stands, the recommended procedure is to have the padded brackets on the outside of the arms. For double X stands, the recommendation is to have the padded brackets to the inside of the arms. (See a demo of single X setup on the On-Stage YouTube channel.)

All in all, this tray adds convenient flexibility to my stage setup. Right now, it provides a space-efficient way of having my full keyboard rig available in the studio. The Minilogue, the KORG M50, and the Yamaha MOTIF ES6 are routed through the mixer. From there, the mixer feeds two channels of an RME Fireface UCX on its way into the box. Channels 1 & 2 on the mixer are available for a mic and guitar/bass, respectively. I'm very happy to have this excellent addition to my setup.

Really could only be better if it were built directly into the stand.
I'm taller than many keyboard players and I prefer to stand while I play, so I purchased several X-style stands before finding one that was at a comfortable playing height. Well, that left a dilemma of what to do with the other stands. The answer was these utility trays. I've purchased a total of 3 now, and it just makes so much sense for smaller synths and drum machines that wouldn't normally fit on a stand. I've found that you can even use them on a second tier. It's particular helpful if you don't have very much desk real estate. Another trick I've discovered is that you can mount it upside down and use it to store little odds and ends. The possibilities are basically endless.
Just what I needed
It worked perfectly for what I needed. I set my soundboard on it and another music device and have plenty of room.
Good accessory
This was a great suggestion from Brandon at Sweet Water for my stand. It is nice and heavy, and helps stabilize the stand. I definitely have more confidence that my keyboard will stay put while playing.
Heavy
Does exactly what it says. The only thing that through me off was how heavy it actually was so u know its sturdy. I think the thing that surprised me was that it fit on my universal second tier stand so I was able to slant it. I have two roli Seaboards mpc touch and a korg nano kontrol 2 on it and with a few velocros everything stays put.
