Kramer’s Original 1980s Classic

The Pacer Vintage is a spectacular tribute to the Kramer’s original shred-style axe. Thanks to its familiar double-cut body and historic beak-style headstock, picking up a Pacer Vintage is like stepping right back into 1982. This solidbody electric guitar was built for high speed and high performance. All-maple construction gives it a bright sound with long sustain and enough bite to penetrate a busy mix of drums, bass, and guitars. Its ruler-flat 14”-radius fingerboard ensures lightning-fast playability. And paired with a dimed British-style stack, the Pacer Vintage’s Seymour Duncan pickups dish out classic hot-rodded humbucker tones. Treble-bleed controls and push/pull series/parallel taps round out to this guitar’s premium features. And since no guitar would be shred-worthy without a double-locking tremolo, the Pacer Vintage comes armed with the gold standard — a Floyd Rose. If you want to get your hands on a hard rock classic, pick up a Kramer Pacer Vintage.

Feature-laden, high-performance shred machine

Boasting Kramer’s original 1980s design, the Pacer Vintage is a feature-laden, high-performance shred machine. Its maple body exhibits a mega-bright sound with super-long sustain and truckloads of mix-penetrating bite. Its hard-rock maple neck features a lightning-fast 14”-radius fingerboard with a 25.5” scale and 22 medium-jumbo frets. The Pacer Vintage sports a historic beak-style headstock.

Seymour Duncan hot-rodded humbuckers — built to rock hard

Kramer’s Pacer Vintage was built for hard rock. And it rocks hard, thanks to its Seymour Duncan humbuckers. Its JB bridge pickup is one of the most popular in the world, serving up the classic sound of a hot-rodded humbucker. You know, that sound — the one we've all loved for the last 30 years. This guitar’s JN neck pickup makes a perfect complement to the JB, yielding traditional warm humbucker tones for full, yet clear, rhythms and silky-smooth leads. From bluesy crunch to harmonic-laden grind, these humbuckers deliver the goods. To top it off, each pickup boasts its own volume control with a push/pull series/parallel tap and a treble-bleed mod to maintain shimmering highs at low volumes. The Pacer Vintage also includes a master tone control.

Floyd Rose tremolo for twisting, bending, and dive-bombing

Do you dive-bomb? Shriek? Squeal? Flutter? Of course you do! Otherwise, you wouldn’t be on Sweetwater.com looking at shred machines like the Pacer Vintage. Similar to other high-performance solidbody electric guitars, the Pacer Vintage comes equipped with a rock-solid Floyd Rose double-locking trem. It can be used for subtle vibrato or full-blown dive bombs — the choice is yours. Either way, you’ll experience the same response and tuning stability that you'd expect from a Floyd Rose. Whether you use it or abuse it, you'll have trouble knocking the Pacer Vintage out of tune.

Kramer Pacer Vintage Features:

  • An homage to the original 1982 Kramer
  • Maple body exhibits a bright sound with long sustain and plenty of mix-penetrating bite
  • Maple neck features a lightning-fast 14”-radius fingerboard with a 25.5” scale and 22 medium-jumbo frets
  • Seymour Duncan JB bridge humbucker boasts plenty of output without sacrificing tone
  • Seymour Duncan JN neck humbucker yields traditional warm humbucker tones
  • Each pickup boasts its own volume control with a push/pull series/parallel tap
  • Treble-bleed mod maintains shimmering highs at low volumes
  • Floyd Rose 1000 Series double-locking trem for dive-bombing, shrieking, squealing, and fluttering
  • Rock-solid Kramer machine heads with a 14:1 turning ratio
  • Eye-grabbing beak-style headstock with a historic Kramer logo

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

A great guitar my first guitar

Before I had a Les Paul copy was an amazing sound and a very good guitar for a knock off but pwhen I got creamer when it first came out I can't remember the year I was the only one actually in town that owned a Kramer it was a fantastic guitar the sound everything I had to I think it was Seymour Duncan pick ups then I can't remember. But anyway it's a good shredding guitar, and I had no idea that Eddie Van Halen played this guitar I thought you play the Sharvell. Definitely worth the money I'm getting another one since I don't have that guitar anymore. Relationships screw everything up lol now you know why I don't own that guitar anymore. But get this guitar is a great guitar.

Fantastic

This guitar was set up great out of the box and had no blemishes or problems with it. The only problem I had were the frets were kind of nasty probably from sitting but not a big deal to polish them up. Frets feel nice on the edge and neck is very smooth. The Locking nut is great I have had no tuning problems at all even with dive bombs. The color is so awesome to look at. It's white with like glitter or bits of sand with it. It really shines when the light hits it. You also can't see finger prints at all on this. Would definitely recommend

There's just something about Kramer I have always loved....

I love this guitar. The simplicity and tone is just in your face and smooth! I purchased it about a week ago and overnighted it to my office. When I received it I was BLOW AWAY!!! To be honest, the set up was a little eh, but hey it had to travel and it's summer so I'll give it a pass. Not to mention, most new guitars don't exactly have the set up you want anyways. Once I got it home and set it up this baby is a keeper! The neck is just like my 83 Pacer Imperial that I sold many years ago like a total Knucklehead. The reason for 4 1/2 out of 5 stars is that I ran into one little issue with the top mound Floyd nut. Whoever put it on in the factory must of really eaten their Wheaties that morning because the screws mounting the nut to the neck were completely sheared off! For me this is not a big problem because I was a luthier at one point in life. Tedious, pain in the neck fix, but quick enough. Now this baby will be rockin' with me this weekend! As always, I'd like to thank Ryan. He really is an awesome sales engineer. He always works with me and provides beyond excellent service. If you're thinking about buying this guitar get on the waiting list and when they're in stock again, pull the trigger!

Tolerable w/some tweaking

Factory setup was pretty close.Had to put a little relief in the neck.Neck is on the slim side taper wise.Radius pretty flat.Definitely a shredder neck.My original 83 Pacer has a more vintage strat feeling neck.Pickups sound good.Wiring kind of weird. The first volume control controls the bridge volume. The second volume control controls the neck volume. This is backwards of the original Pacer wiring but I can understand why they did it this way. Most people do the volume swells on the bridge pickup so putting it first makes it easier to get to I guess. There are treble bleeds on both volume controls but I think the value is a bit much. Turning the volume down retains too many highs and has a harsh mid-rangey sound. The taper of the master tone control wasn't that great either, it seemed more like an on-off affair when turning it down. Not a smooth taper. The pole pots for series parallel worked well but I don't see the need for this option on a shredder type ax. Usually the bar is in the way of any pull pot manipulations anyway. I ended up gutting the whole control cavity and replacing with a master volume and two tones with no treble bleed, and no pull pots. I used a 0.015 microfarad capacitor for the tone control. I realize that these are all personal preferences, the guitar as a whole is decent and stays in tune very well. The Fret ends are smooth and I only encountered one high fret on fret number 8. I also replaced the knobs with speed knobs like the original Kramer had.The bar pulls the G string up 2 1/2 steps to "C",pretty cool!
