Extended Range with Impressive Playability

When you need the extended range of an 8-string guitar, it's hard to beat the value and sonic intensity of the Jackson JS32-8 Dinky solidbody electric guitar. Complete with Jackson's famous neck carve, two high-output humbuckers, and that iconic headstock, the JS32-8 Dinky is perfect for down-tuned rock and metal. You'll enjoy impressive sustain and note definition, thanks to the strings-through-body fixed bridge. And despite its affordability the JS32-8 Dinky boasts premium appointments, like binding on the fretboard for an ultra-smooth feel. Looking for an affordable 8-string guitar that plays like a dream? You'll be impressed with the Jackson JS32-8 Dinky solidbody electric guitar.

8-string design expands your creative options

The JS32-8 Dinky is a great way to achieve heavy, down-tuned tones for modern metal — but heavy isn't the only thing you'll be able to do. Expand your chord voicings, add moving bass parts to your solo guitar arrangements, or come up with new sounds never heard before.

Dual high-output Jackson pickups to punish your amplifier

Forget weak, wimpy sounding pickups. The Jackson humbucking pickups on the JS32-8 Dinky are designed for muscle. Jackson knows how to rock, and the direct-mount high-output pickups they put in the JS32-8 Dinky are designed to do just that. They're great for driving the preamp of your favorite amp or for pushing long cable runs through multiple effects pedals. These pickups won't leave you wanting more, that's for sure.

Jackson neck carve a with straight-string-pull headstock

There are certain electric guitar neck designs that set the standard for all others to follow. Jackson's neck contour is definitely one of them. Since the '80s, Jackson necks have been synonymous with highly technical, high-performance playing. The JS32-8 Dinky follows the tradition, giving you a thin profile and great access to all 24 jumbo frets. Guitarists at Sweetwater especially dig the straight-string-pull headstock, which keeps even tension on all eight strings and helps with tuning stability.

Jackson JS32-8 Dinky 8-string Electric Guitar Features:

  • 8-string electric guitar engineered for rock and metal
  • High-output pickups put you in hard rock territory
  • Jackson's famous neck carve offers fast, smooth playability
  • Fretboard binding for a smoother neck feel
  • 24 jumbo frets, a favorite fret size among rock and metal guitarists
  • 26.5-inch scale length for added string tension on the lower strings

Reviews

good guitar
I just received this guitar a few hours ago. I owned a 7 string for a short while long ago. I have played guitar 30 years now. This is a well built guitar and if you are looking into trying a 7 or 8 string this is a good buy. To be honest it's a completely different instrument then what I've played. 8 strings are definitely a turn in the road. I have no clue how to play this guitar yet but I know instead of tuning down to play a song I will try this first. I may not succeed but I will try. For the price it is definitely a great deal.
great buy
For the cheapest quality company 8 string I could find Jackson did a great job. I saw a review saying the pickups were weak and I admit they don't have the output as some pickups that cost close to half of what this entire guitar costs they are quite decent factory pickups. I made this video simply so people can see these pickups can get you squeals and harmonic pinches on the E and B string which is a little impressive for any pickup. I'm playing through a Laney 120-watt ironheart head with a metal zone pedal in the video. 8 strings are wild and fun after awhile as well.
THIS IS A STINKIN EPIC GUITAR
I've been getting into heavy metal so I figured I may as well try an 8 string. I haven't regretted my decision! This is an amazing guitar at an affordable price. Sweetwater, you've done it again!!
The PERFECT economy 8-string!
Okay, so I've been looking to add some low-register guitar parts to some song ideas for a while, and I was honestly just headed towards a descent 7-string. But, as I also pondered the thought of going even lower, I looked into some 8-strings.

Since this was only going to be a 'stunt' guitar for recording and some riff-building, I didn't want to invest too much money into something that would not be played that much. Obviously price-wise, compared to mainline 8-strings (and even the 7-strings!), this guitar is inexpensive. But, honestly, the quality seriously outweighs the price!

For starters, the matte finish looks BEAUTIFUL. The bridge is super comfortable to rest your playing hand (since there will be muting afoot, of course), and the pickups sound KILLER. Dialing in a super thick/low distorted tone is quick and easy - super clarity even in those distorted depths.

And lastly, I don't know if it's just Sweetwater's inspection and set-up tweak or not, but this thing arrived playing like BUTTER right out of the box. I love low/comfortable action, and I didn't have to do a THING to get that on this guitar.

Simply put, if you're looking to slowly ease into the 7/8-string music pool without spending a chunk o' cash, this guitar is for you. Also (I just remembered), even on the clean tones it sounds phenomenal - adding in the low strings makes it sound like a friggin' piano!

I've been playing professionally for over 35 years, I have a boatload of guitars (expensive and inexpensive), and this one is a very welcome new member to the family!
Music background: Professional guitar player/teacher/perforner/recording etc (and sincerely professional - just ask the IRS).
8 string experiment
I purchased this Jackson Dinky 8 string for an "inspiring" purpose. I have just recently gotten into 7 string and I wanted to see what 8 string was like. Not metal but for clean. It is definitely a cool way to expand the fretboard and inspire different thoughts. As for the instrument, for the money, it is a good value. I wish the scale length was a little longer for the F# and B strings, but that was my decision to buy anyway.
