The Perfect Choice for Run-and-gun Recording

Whether you’re a journalist covering local events or a content creator roaming a city talking to interesting people, you need a mic that can handle any interview subject. Sweetwater recommends the RODE Interview Pro, a completely wireless handheld condenser microphone that’s comfortable to hold and looks great in front of the camera. The Interview Pro includes RODE’s advanced GainAssist technology, which automatically adjusts the gain to keep the audio level perfectly consistent. You will also benefit from 32-bit floating-point conversion, which further safeguards against clipping and drastically increases the dynamic range. Finally, the Interview Pro retains time-code compatibility with select receivers. Level up the sound of your interview audio with the RODE Interview Pro.

GainAssist technology gives you cleaner results

Your new RODE Interview Pro microphone comes with an intelligent new piece of technology called GainAssist. First introduced on the RODE Wireless ME wireless microphone system, this technology automatically works to keep the audio level consistent and prevent clipping. With GainAssist, you don’t have to fiddle with the microphone gain between interviews with different subjects — the microphone does it for you. Simply put, GainAssist takes the hassle out of recording on-location audio.

Capture every detail

With the Interview Pro, you get cleaner recordings in just about any setting. First, it has an omnidirectional polar pattern to cover multiple speakers. What’s more, the mic’s internal 32-bit floating-point conversion provides massive headroom and a wide dynamic range, so you can capture whispers and screams without clipping. Whether you’re covering sports or conducting a series of public interviews, the RODE Interview Pro’s internal circuitry makes sure you get every detail every time.

RODE Interview Pro Wireless Handheld Condenser Microphone Features:

  • Wireless handheld microphone for conducting on-camera interviews
  • 2.4GHz wireless technology offers up to 656 feet (200m) of line-of-sight transmission
  • Condenser microphone capsule gives you high-definition vocal pickup
  • Omnidirectional polar pattern helps you cover multiple speakers at once
  • 32-bit floating-point recording technology captures whispers and screams with equal success
  • Intelligent GainAssist technology ensures the mic gain is perfect every time
  • Rechargeable battery supplies up to 30 hours of continuous operation
  • Compatible with RODE Series IV wireless receivers (Wireless ME, Wireless GO II, Wireless PRO, RODECaster Pro II, and RODECaster Duo)

Reviews

The Almost Perfect Interview/Recorder Mic
This is the best handheld interview mic/recorder I have ever seen, so I bought two. The build and feel are perfect. The audio and gain control are perfect as well. We were working outdoors at a music festival in 90+ temps for three days and never had any technical issues.

But the lack of "indicators" that our recording was ongoing or that our charge was sufficient was unnerving. We also used the Rode Interview mic with a Rode wireless transmitter and receiver to provide interview audio to our DSLR for web postings. Professional look and sound.
Music background: Community Radio and location sound.
Ride Mic
One of the best Mic's I've ever owned. Sweetwater customer service is the TOP NOTCH!
Solid entry for interviews, streaming, casting.
Pros:
This mic is a good find for it's target of interviews, recording, streaming.
Signal is balanced, stable, clear and very easy to use.
Pairs very quickly with compatible Rode receivers and mixers.
Cons: Not really a con, but a use scenario: Because of being omnidirectional, this mic isn't a fit for a use where there are monitors or speakers due to feedback.
Summary: If this fits your target, then this mic will be a good tool.
Music background: Musician, media production
