Colorful, Charismatic Fixture

You can find Chauvet DJ spotlights in use by DJs and venues across the country — including here at Sweetwater — and the Intimidator Spot 60 ILS exemplifies the high standards of these fixtures. This diminutive fixture boasts formidable capabilities and entrancing effects, courtesy of a 70-watt LED engine, eight colors, seven gobos, and a 3-facet prism. Designed as the miniature counterpart to the Chauvet DJ Intimidator Free Spot ILS, the Intimidator Spot 60 ILS has the same impressive feature set. It’s also ILS compatible, meaning it can easily integrate and communicate with fixtures in the ILS ecosystem, and D-Fi compatible to open another avenue of wireless communication.

Compact footprint and energetic effects

Chauvet DJ outfitted the Intimidator Spot 60 ILS with exceptional features and a compact body ready for life on the go! For incredibly smooth operation and looks that kill, the Intimidator Spot 60 ILS offers manual zoom along with automatic, motorized focus for sharp, crisp gobos. A new home position makes programming smoother than ever, and the innovative Totem mode keeps the beams anchored to the stage or dancefloor during operation. You can manually set, save, and recall one scene from the full-color LCD if you wish to forgo other programming. You can also create synchronized shows by linking up to four fixtures! FInally, you can take advantage of 8, 10, or 14 DMX channels via 3-pin XLR connectors.

Reviews

Incredible!!
I have two of these that I'm controlling with the ILS command controller. Incredible!! So easy to use. I don't use DMX cables, I use Chauvet's D-Fi USB sticks for connectivity. I am a mobile DJ. I have had these for a year now taking them to all types of events. Weddings, parties, school events, indoor/outdoor events, etc. never failed! I don't have a case for them, unfortunately, I transport them in their original packaging. I typically use the sound function from the controller, you know. "Set it and forget it". I eventually want to add more ILS lights to create a more fascinating show. But for now, these do the trick.

I 100% recommend to all my mobile DJ friends!
Music background: Producer, Mobile DJ
It’s a nice moving-head fixture, but reliability is proving to be a problem
I'm using four of the Intimidator 60 ILS fixtures in a fixed installation at a medium-size nightclub. They were purchased and installed in March 2024. As of December 7 2024, I've now experienced the third failure with one of these units. The first two failures involved the fixture "losing its mind" (loss of reactivity to DMX commands and doing random stuff), and this latest failure appears to be either the LED or LED driver circuitry. I appreciate Sweetwater's advance-replacement arrangement for those first two failures (May and July 2024), but now this third issue (leaving us without one of our moving-head lights for a busy Saturday night) is leading me to think that these fixtures have some design issues.
Update to my previous review: one year, EIGHT failures.
I have four of these installed in a medium size nightclub. Ceiling mounted, quite a well-ventilated space with moderate fog machine usage. These were an "upgrade" to an earlier set of Chauvet Intimidator 155's that worked for years with minimal issues.

Since installing these in March 2024, we have seen EIGHT failures. Obviously those eight failures include units that were returned/exchanged. On one of the most recent failures (RMA'ed to Chauvet), after waiting about a month for a response came back the word that a needed part would take 60 days to arrive at their facility, meaning a total of at least three months downtime.

These are by far the most trouble prone club light fixtures I've ever experienced. Keep in mind these are NOT being transported around for mobile gigs, just mounted at ceiling level and used for about 15 hours per week. One premature failure is a coincidence, two is "uh oh", EIGHT FAILURES in less than a year for brand-new lights is absolutely insane. I previously have had good experiences with Chauvet products but this has turned into a time-consuming disaster and I will have to be replacing these with a different product soon.

You've been warned!

Sweetwater lighting techs, DJs, and musicians alike have the deepest respect for Chauvet, both on the personal and on the professional side. Many of us first became acquainted with Chauvet before LED technology caught on, and it's been impressive to see their range of fixtures grow. Today, Chauvet offers some of our most popular LED lights, from drop-in PAR replacements and intelligent lighting instruments to exciting effects, foggers, haze machines, and more. We also love their innovation. Chauvet has brought LED technology to classic fixtures like ellipsoidal and Fresnels, while their D-Fi system has made wireless DMX truly accessible. Top it off with powerful hardware controllers, next-gen DMX control software, and much more, and we're happy to recommend the Chauvet gear we not only stock but also use ourselves.
