Advanced Semi-weighted 88-note Controller Keyboard

MIDI-based musicians — are you ready to expand your performance horizons? Sweetwater is excited to introduce the Nektar Impact GXP88. Nektar has created a new instrument category here: an advanced 88-note MIDI controller with full-sized, semi-weighted velocity- and aftertouch-sensing keys and everything else you need in a serious studio or stage controller keyboard. The Impact GXP88 ticks all the boxes: proper pitch and mod wheels, dual-footswitch and expression pedal jacks, selectable velocity curves, 14 RGB LED buttons, 5-pin MIDI out, USB bus power, and more.

Aftertouch for expressive performances

Not every keyboardist needs or wants piano-weighted keys. The Impact GXP88’s newly designed and carefully balanced semi-weighted keyboard action feels great for playing virtual drums, synths, and orchestral instruments as well as piano. And it’s got aftertouch — a rare commodity in this price range — which allows you to lean into your notes for tasty vibrato, filter sweeps, or whatever you have it assigned to. And all this advanced functionality is packed into a sleek, compact, gig-ready 18-pound chassis that looks fantastic in your studio or stage rig.

Advanced DAW integration that just works

The Impact GXP88’s streamlined control panel is based on Nektar’s successful Impact GX series, and in keeping with Nektar’s advanced DAW integration philosophy, it offers extended transport control, track selection, and volume control as well as options to open and close DAW windows and navigate songs. For those who have never used a Nektar controller, the best news is that this is all automatic. You simply download and install the free DAW Integration file for your DAW and voilà — everything just works!

Assignable illuminated RGB buttons

What’s more, GXP88’s user interface also has 14 assignable illuminated RGB buttons for direct MIDI program- and bank-selection. Nektar’s new Key Repeat engine adds an intuitive real-time tool for spicing your music with inspired rhythmic patterns. You can control the Repeat feature directly from the GXP88’s illuminated RGB buttons. Once Repeat mode is engaged, the buttons allow for direct selection of Repeat Rates, Accent, Interval, Swing, and routing aftertouch or modulation to velocity. While Repeat is active, the second encoder becomes a dedicated tempo control, unless you’ve set synchronization to external MIDI clock.

Advanced control of your plug-in instruments

Nektarine is a VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plug-in that allows advanced Nektar control of your plug-in instruments from Nektar’s flagship Panorama controllers and the Impact GXP88. Nektarine gives the GXP88 powerful master keyboard functionality, with 16 slots for up to 16 VST or AU instrument plug-ins available for simultaneous use. The GXP88 brings instant patch recall to hybrid or entirely software-based keyboard setups with direct patch control from GXP88’s RBG patch buttons and the ability to define keyboard zones, layers, and splits for all hosted plug-ins. You can save your plug-in settings and combinations in a single Multi-patch for recall at the touch of a button. GXP88 works with any MIDI software on macOS, Windows, and iOS and can also be used as a standard MIDI controller for legacy MIDI gear right out of the box.

Reviews

Great controller.
I shopped the GXP-88 really carefully after finding great disappointment with a previous controller. There was going to be a trade-off, in that the one I was replacing had a great weighted action. What it lacked was onboard midi control, and the GXP has everything I need there. The availability of assignable controls is far more than adequate - almost more than I need. The semi-weighted action is comfortable and expressive, with multiple velocity curves available. My arthritis is probably going to appreciate the lighter touch, in reality. I also respect the portability factor. At 17 lbs, it is easy on the back. Nektar has a great controller in this product. Bravo!

GXPs are REALLY good!
imho, the GXP-88 is the best value 88-key controller out there. No, it doesn't have hammers, but it's also light as a feather and feels really good. The GXP 88/61/49 have the same action and identical features. I use the 88 at home to practice as well as taking it out for piano gig house parties or beach weddings. I didn't like the aftertouch at all so I disabled it, and two years of banging this thing every day it still works as well as when I bought it - I have never had any mechanical issues with it. Use it with your DAW, trigger MIDI modules, or connect it to your iPad, whatever you need.
OK. at first i gave 2 star but now i give 5 stars.
So i wrote a review with 2 stars because the sustain pedal thingy was not working. So I got a pedal with "polarity reverse" function. now it works.

all 88 key works. after touch seem like its working. sustain works. im happy. i give 5 stars.
Great Keyboard for Kontakt Composers on a budget
Feels pretty good for the price and has just enough features. Fits snugly in my Output Platform desk
Very nice and capable while small and light for an 88.
I really like the GXP 88. It has a nice feel and useful controls that, thankfully, can be reprogrammed to send desired MIDI signals, and is compact and light weight for a keyboard with this range.
