A 60-watt Powerhouse Fit for Stage and Studio

Boasting two fierce channels of Ironheart-inspired tones, Laney’s Ironheart Foundry Dualtop is a comprehensive 60-watt head that’s equally at home on the stage and in the studio. Each of this amp’s channels — a shimmering Clean channel and a dirt-laden Lead channel — sports a 3-way voicing switch to instantly switch up your EQ on the fly, further aided by a global 3-band EQ. Next, the onboard Boost fires up your tone with an extra helping of heat, while the digital reverb circuit imparts lush space and a lively presence to your playing. Tonally, the Dualtop is a remarkably well-rounded amp. However, its utility features truly push it over the edge as a studio and practice tool, including an IR cab-simulated XLR DI out, transformer-isolated FX loop, variable wattage control, aux in, headphone jack, and much more. Whether you’re looking to storm the stage or pick out the new centerpiece of your recording rig, Laney’s Dualtop head is a sure bet.

Kick into overdrive with a high-power Boost control

Perfect for turning up the heat during a solo or imparting extra punch to your licks, the Dualtop’s built-in Boost section is a potent sonic tool. Moreover, you can activate the Boost by flipping the switch on the front panel or with a footswitch for hands-free dynamic shifts up onstage. And while this amp’s Brutal boost naturally results in screaming room-shaking Laney tones, Sweetwater guitarists love how the onboard wattage selector allows you to transform the Dualtop’s 60-watt roar into a bedroom-appropriate volume!

From the stage to the studio to the practice room

The Dualtop is designed for maximum efficiency and simplicity, but this straightforward little amp packs quite a bit of utility under the hood. For players running a plethora of effects pedals, the transformer-isolated effects loop is a godsend, allowing you to integrate all your reverb, time-based, and modulation pedals cleanly and with minimal noise. Furthermore, the Dualtop is also remarkably well-suited to the practice room, sporting a cabinet-emulated 1/8-inch headphone out and aux in — perfect for silent practice sessions and jamming along to your favorite tracks. An XLR DI out with stunningly realistic IR cab simulation tops the Dualtop off, allowing you to achieve studio-grade guitar tracks at home without the help of a microphone.

Laney amps: stunning since ’67

The journey of Laney Amplification harkens all the way back to 1967. Lyndon Laney left behind the British group Band of Joy (and members John Bonham and Robert Plant) to venture into the expanding realms of amplifier building. From Lyndon’s family garage to stacking huge stages at the disposal of some of history’s greatest groups like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Kiss, Laney and its legacy of high-quality amp engineering has found tremendous worldwide acclaim for decades. With a long list of sound systems and characterful heads, cabinets, combos, and pedals for guitar, bass, keyboards, and more, Laney offers a stunning lineup of top-tier products with an enviably versatile appeal.

Reviews

Ripper on a budget!
This amp head is a beast! I bought it along with the Laney 4×12 cab and I'm very impressed. This setup has some bark to her. The amount of options this little beauty has is also great. From the different compressions to the wattage setting and the cab emulations. I was skeptical about the cab emulations at first. Plugged my headphones in and switched between settings and got blown away. The wattage setting is amazing. Being able to switch for practicing by yourself to full bore in a band setting is nice. If you're looking for an amp head that can do rock or metal, can be used solo or even in a full band setting, and without costing an arm and leg look no further. The other review here on Sweetwater says it's a sleeper and they're not kidding. So stop reading the reviews and just click add to cart!
Classic rock, Warmth, Chug - IT’S IN THERE !
Bought this for headphone / home studio. I knew going it was capable, was still surprised just how much ground it can cover. It was my first Laney, less than a month since purchase, I'm selling some of my other amps to buy more Laney. Clean, quiet, works the way it should and does it well. I play anything from Stray Dog Orchestra to hair band stuff and it is very easy to dial in. It offers enough function without making it complicated. Boost is best for classic rock for me. My biggest compliment, the warmth, the low end at lower volume. Time for another amp, I know it will be a Laney it will for SURE be through Sweetwater. I've been buying here for 20 years and spent thousands. Not a single complaint. Love it. Thanks Ben Davis !!

Great sounding amp
I have no regrets buying this amp. Sounds great. I'm running it into a Randal 212 slant cabinet. I play classic rock. It's has everything that I find useful. The reverb sounds good. I told another guitar player friend about this amp, and he said 60 watts is not big enough. He's wrong. with the volume at 2.5-3, I'm more than keeping up with a classic rock drummer. Still lots of headroom. I do have one small complaint. And It's on multiple different products. The power switch is on the back. I don't know why they do this. Another foot of wire and they could have mounted it on the front.

Tone Monster

I was looking for a high gain head and saw the BLACKSTAR ST JAMES 6l6 50 WATT TUBE HEAD SUPER LIGHT WEIGHT AND FOUND A FLOOR MODEL FOR HALF PRICE LIKE $ . Sounded really good but died on me in like two months no warranty . So I have had my eye out for for a high gain head that wont break the bank .the Laney lead top 2 caught my eye after looking at all the new mini 30 watt solid state heads from soldano and friedman this head had 2 channels reverb and 60 watts so I decided to give it a try and WOW ! TONE TONE TONE! Im running this thru a 4x12 Egnater cabinet and sounds fuller than the blackstar for less than half the price . Verry articulate and superb tone . Unless you are a tube snob or junky this amp will more than likely suite your needs for high gain bliss . The other thing that sold me is the free 2 year warranty you get with Sweetwater !

What a surprise!!
Let me start by saying…I am normally not a fan of solid state amps. I've tried the Katanas…Orange…etc etc. Was never impressed with the sound. I have several tube amps…EVH 5150 and a Marshall DSL…but I had this 1x12 cab with a nice Celestion G12T-75 in it…and I was determined to find a solid state head that would get close to a tube amp tone. The dualtop does it. What a great little head! It's is NOT just a metal amp…hard rock…southern rock…80's…and a great clean channel. Onboard boost, reverb, effects loop…for the money it can't be beat in my opinion.
