Reviews

keyboard stand
works as designed
Solid and stable and low
Solid. Doesn't wobble. Lowest setting works best for me when seated. I won't need anything more because I am just learning piano as a hobby.
Excellent Piece of Equipment
I was a little skeptical of the product given the low price, but was very surprised at how sturdy this stand was when I assembled it. I also ordered the double-tier accessory for this stand and am very happy with the setup. I have two 88-key weighted keyboards on this setup and have no worries about it falling. We'll see how durable it is if we're ever able to put roadwear on our equipment again :-D

P.S. I think I was more excited about the bumper sticker than this awesome stand. :D

Thanks, Sweetwater!

Collapsed with keyboard on it
Looks like design error. Pin is too short and did not lock securely. This caused the stand to collapse all the way to the floor with my keyboard on it.

Fortunately, it did so slowly as I watched and nothing got damaged except the stand which unknown to me was already seriously marginal.

The slowness was caused by the punch pressed tabs on the "Patent Pending" adjustment plate. This and the leg that it was supposed to be stopped by got scored which was the source of the friction that slowed it down.

So, what to do? Send it back, cry, ??? No…

The frame is a beast. Properly braced it would likely support my 200lb + frame. For real.

Going to cannibalize the brace strap from my old stand, or maybe pick up a strip of similar size metal online, a few nuts and bolts, drill a few holes and custom fit the stand to my exact height requirements.

Yeah, its a bit of extra work and waah, waah, waah.

But thinking it's about the same amount of time to send it back and then I'd have to start over. This way, I get custom results to my exact needs, know it's rock solid and likely won't need a an upgrade for many years to come.

Bottom line: you get a really good frame for the price but it will likely need help.

It's a sad day to write about an Ultimate Product like this after all these years
I have two of these stands, and the IQ-40 stackers. Tonight I lost my balance near one of them and used the top tier of the empty stand to try to catch myself, which I did, despite the stand, which collapsed to my disbelief. I tried the other one, applying no more than 30-40# of pressure, and there it went, the plate bulged away leaving the stand freewheeling then flat on the ground, fixable only by the replacement part, but who would? Try it yourself, just don't try it with a keyboard. I tried this with my other stands and, although some wobbled, none collapsed. Separately but related to the IQ-2000, the end caps on the IQ-40 second tier that keep the keyboard from sliding off slid right off, right out of the box, even when at a minimal angle and a lightweight synth. The solution however, was easy. A web of duct tape. Hmm... This is really disturbing, coming from a company that was once synonymous with innovation, quality, and good design. I was proud to own Ultimate products in the past, going back to the 1980's. Sadly my trust and loyalty has ended, or at least now realigned to a new understanding of the products I'm paying for.
