Value and Performance in a Sony Full-frame Mirrorless
An advanced full-frame mirrorless camera with a powerful feature set, the Sony Alpha 7 IV offers strong imaging performance for photographers and videographers alike. Multimedia content creators need a camera that does it all but doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, and the Alpha 7 IV fits the bill nicely, thanks to its state-of-the-art 33-megapixel Exmor R full-frame, back-illuminated CMOS sensor and Sony’s flagship BIONZ XR processing engine. Together, the sensor and processor facilitate up to 10 fps shooting with AF/AE enabled using either the mechanical or electronic shutter. Sony’s advanced design and a sensitivity range of ISO 100–51,200 allow the camera to deliver high resolution along with low noise and vibrant color rendering in any lighting conditions. With its quick, confident autofocusing, dazzling still images, and pristine UHD 4K/60p 10-bit video, the Alpha 7 IV punches way above its delightfully accessible price range. There’s no substitute for resolution
Vloggers and podcasters require image quality that looks good on the Web. If that’s your jam, why not just get an inexpensive camera with a smaller sensor? We’re glad you asked. With a 33MP resolution that significantly exceeds what is needed for Web content, the Sony Alpha 7 IV will allow you to stretch out creatively. You could even do a magazine spread or fashion shoot! Beyond resolution, the Alpha 7 IV also provides professional features like a full-frame sensor and an interchangeable lens mount that lets you access the entire range of acclaimed Sony E series glass.

The advantages of a full-frame sensor
Let’s talk crop factor. With a full-frame (36mm × 24mm) sensor, there is no crop factor. Sony’s APS-C sensors, on the other hand, have a crop factor of 1.53, meaning that if you mount a 50mm lens, you’ll get a 77mm field of view. A 24–105mm zoom lens would yield an effective focal length of 36.72–160.65mm. Of course, you get more reach on the telephoto side, but at the expense of wide-angle coverage. But cropping negatively affects image quality as well. While a crop-sensor camera doesn’t capture the full optical field of a lens, essentially taking a crop from the center and magnifying it by the crop factor, a full-frame camera maximizes image quality by taking full advantage of a lens’s optics and design without the need for magnification, thus sparing your content the resulting image degradation.
