Optimized Class AB bi-amplification

Which is why the Tannoy 8 is bi-amplified with 300 watts of onboard Class AB power. Why Class AB? While Class A amplifiers sound sweet at low levels, they run hot and are tremendously inefficient at higher volumes. Class B amps are much more efficient, but they tend to add distortion to your signal. Class AB amplification combines the linear performance of Class A with the higher operational efficiencies of Class B, while sidestepping the deficiencies of both. It’s the best of both worlds.
