Lean and mean
I had been carrying a Hammond SK2 for our gigs. I love the keyboard but it's just too heavy . I bought the 61 key Roland Go Piano to see if I could lighten my load . At 8.5 lbs, weight wise , it was perfect. Takes up less space in my truck. The real test was sound quality. Through my system , I got better pianos than the Hammond and a couple of good organs. I added a pedal for the leslie effect, perfect. The electronic pianos a really good also, overall , I highly recommend this place of gear!!
Music background: I have been playing since the age of 5, I’m 64 now and have a full production company as well as playing live.

Just what I needed!
I used to have a 61-key Yamaha arranger keyboard and it was amazing. I've never been a professional musician, but did make enough from gigs to pay for all my gear. I mostly entertained at retirement communities and the Yamaha was fantastic for that purpose. It made me sound much better than I was -- I mean, it was me conducting an entire band on the keyboard. But I decided that I was too old to lug all that gear around and a year ago I sold that keyboard, the sound system, stand, mics, etc.

And then I thought to myself, maybe I should have kept it? I mean, it was paid for. But then I thought, maybe I should get an electronic piano and attempt to become a better pianist and not rely on the electronics to back me up. Then I wondered if I should even get a piano or not. I decided maybe I could get something smaller and take it with me in my camper van when I travel and pull it out as something to do as a solo traveler.

I knew what I had (the Yamaha PSR s910) wouldn't fit in the small amount of "spare" room I have in my Class B camper. I decided to see what was out there. I did find a Yamaha something or other with just 37 keys (I think).

I emailed Dan, my Sweetwater sales expert, and said I was thinking about this Yamaha. It looked like it was first produced about seven years or so ago...so I didn't know if it was still something worth considering. I knew I had room for it, and the reviews I watched on Youtube were overall pretty positive.

Dan said it was a good keyboard, but if I had the space, maybe I should consider the Roland Go-Piano 61. It had a lot of advantages over the smaller Yamaha including full-sized keys, ability to transpose by half-steps not just entire octaves, etc. I started to watch reviews of the Yamaha and went out and measure the space in my van I had reserved for a keyboard. I measured it twice. It would fit. I ordered it.

And the rest is history. I've had it maybe a month by now. It's exactly what I needed. It has several piano sounds as well as several other sounds in other groupings. The sound quality is good and and more than good enough for me. It fits in my space, the full-sized keys make a difference, and having 61 instead of 37 keys is much better. As it turns out, there's also a phone app that bluetooths with the keyboard that actually has about 15 pre-programmed rhythms. I wasn't expecting that. So while using the rhythms via the app doesn't match what the Yamaha could do ... they're fun. In the end, I got this to practice piano without all the extra fluff.

All-in-all, I'm very pleased. It fits in my space, can run off of AA batteries, sounds good.

I'm appreciative of Dan and Sweetwater telling me about this option.
Music background: Retired keyboard player. Mostly for fun.

Portable Piano
My husband likes this a lot - big upgrade from his older one - lots of features

Nice little piano
I've played for many years, Steinway to Casio. I wanted a light-weight, portable platform to practice piano and melodica with a backing track, on headphones. The biggest selling feature was built-in Bluetooth. I can play a backing track on the keyboard from my phone or laptop and have my own personal orchestra all day long. I can transpose up or down to match a particular backing track, and even do key changes mid-song. The "touch" function buttons work great for me, no issues. I use "lightest" on the touch-sensitivity setting, and about "5" on the reverb. The weighted, half-weighted keys discussion is a non-issue. The Roland's feel great. I learned classical piano on a Hammond organ in the 60's. Keyboards, pianos all feel different, anyway. A beginner could easily learn piano on this Roland. Add a sustain pedal for best sound.
Music background: Orchestra, keyboard, guitar 50+ years

Simply put, modern electronic music wouldn't exist without Roland. Many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater cut our teeth on TR Rhythm machines and fondly remember programming our first TB-303s. We owe a good part of our careers to this amazing and innovative company. It's been fun to watch and grow right alongside Roland, as they've introduced wave after wave of revolutionary keyboards, digital pianos, and more. For example, Roland's V-Drum Kits continuously redefine the possibilities of electronic drums, beginning with SuperNATURAL technology to the latest Prismatic Sound Modeling. We're huge fans, and we'd love to tell you all about them. Whether you want a pocket-sized synth or a cutting-edge video mixer, if Roland makes it, then Sweetwater is 100% behind it.
