The Jet Flagship

For over six decades, the Gretsch Jet has delivered some of the greatest sounds in rock history. The G6129 Player’s Edition Duo Jet is the apex of over a half century of tonal and performance magic. The flagship of Gretsch’s Jet lineup is a formidable guitar. This Duo Jet combines the harmonic resonance of a chambered mahogany body and maple top with the sonic potency of Gretsch’s Filter’Tron humbuckers and the fluid expressiveness of a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. This Duo Jet delivers a staggering range of tone. From shimmery cleans to beastly overdrive, your every wish is this guitar’s command.

Chambered mahogany body for harmonically rich tone

For the G6129 Player’s Edition Duo Jet, Gretsch starts with a select 1.85"-thick mahogany body and maple top combo that delivers strong, balanced midrange. Strategic body chambering provides tight, controlled attack and superb articulation while reducing weight — which you’ll definitely appreciate during marathon gigs! This chambered tonewood recipe, key to the classic Jet sound, serves as the harmonically rich tonal foundation to which Gretsch adds a pair of remarkable humbucking pickups.

High Sensitive Filter’Trons for classic Gretsch tone

When you want that classic ’50s-era guitar tone, you need real Gretsch humbuckers. That’s why Gretsch gave their G6129 Player’s Edition Duo Jet a pair of High Sensitive Filter’Tron pickups. Unlike most humbuckers, these traditional Gretsch pickups give you a characteristically wide, balanced, and open tone that’s jangly on the highs with an almost single-coil bite that cuts through the mix. Their more typically humbucker-sounding bass also compliments the Duo Jet’s resonant body, adding woody thump and bark to its lower register.

Vintage-style Bigsby tailpiece for enhanced pitch expression

Nothing beats the character and vintage vibe that a real Bigsby tailpiece adds to the G6129. Based on the original design created by Paul A. Bigsby, this Bigsby tailpiece requires next to no effort to use, making it particularly easy to pull off slow, subtle, and extended bends. The Bigsby — along with the guitar’s Filter’Tron pickups, Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays, and classic chambered-body design — gives the G6129 Player’s Edition Duo Jet a distinctive niche in the pantheon of amazing instruments that grace Sweetwater’s Guitar Gallery.

Player’s Edition comfort, control, and performance

We’ve played a lot of guitars here at Sweetwater, and we know that not all players are comfortable with the “traditional” Gretsch feel. Gretsch knows this too, which is why they’ve set the neck lower on the Player’s Edition Duo Jet for greater playing comfort. This improves your fretting-hand mobility while also giving your picking hand a closer approach for increased accuracy and comfort. Gretsch’s full-access rolled cutaway and tapered heel also give you free access to upper frets without palm obstruction and awkward pivoting. Best of all, this sleek design enhancement — meant to be felt, not seen — remains hidden, preserving the Duo Jet’s vintage aesthetic.

Gretsch G6129 Player’s Edition Duo Jet Electric Guitar Features:

Incredible tone machine

Bought mine back in 2019 before the pandemic as a Graduation present. Incredible guitar. Love the high sensitive Filter'Tron pickups, they have more clarity than the classics Filter'Tron. One of my go to guitars

Big Tone!! Versatile!!

I have been playing on this Gretsch for a year now and thought I would write a review on it. This guitar sounds amazing through any PA system it's going through. I'm currently playing this through a Vox ac30 and a Fender Blues Deluxe. I have a pedalboard as well that really vamps up the tone of this beast. It is great for live performances and studio recordings. It's probably the most versatile guitar I've ever had. Sounds better than a Gibson Les Paul because of its big bass and smooth buttery tone. Also when playing on the neck pickup it cuts through without sounding too dirty, which is especially nice for lead lines. The guitar also does very well with Strymon reverb and delay pedals to help beaf it up a little. This guitar sounds great for pretty much anything you're playing. Overall the tone and sound quality are top notch!

Tone Machine

I had been wanting a Gretsch for such a long time. And I am beyond thankful that my amazing sales Engineer Nick Huskins, was able to make it happen. He always takes care of me and helps me find the best gear for me to play at Church. This has to be the nicest guitar I have ever played. I couldn't believe how nicely set-up it was. Shipping was so fast that I was able to play it at Church the same week I ordered it. All I did was tune up and it was ready to go! This guitar cuts through the mix and works well for the type of music we play at Church. But even outside of that. It just has that grit and mojo that I can't not even put into words. Again more importantly is the fact that you have such awesome people like Nick Huskins working for you. What a blessing it is to be able to call him up since he is able to help me with any questions I may have. I am now a Sweetwater Customer for life. And if you are not shopping at Sweetwater you are burning money. Because they have the best deals and customer service.
