Steve Wariner Signature Nashville Gentleman by Gretsch Guitars

Four-time GRAMMY winner and Musicians Hall of Famer Steve Wariner's signature Nashville Gentleman is, in his own words, "the ultimate Gretsch." Steve's signature 15-3/4" black sparkle maple archtop is heavily influenced by the single-cut body styles used by icons Brian Setzer and Duane Eddy and personal mentor Chet Atkins — only in Steve's case, it's reduced in size for a more comfortable play and features closed F-holes for feedback control. A highly personalized electronics package consisting of mismatched TV Jones pickups and a simplified control scheme (volume, tone, 3-way toggle) keeps the melodies flowing like wine; and for added dashes of country quack, a push-pull pot unleashes classic single-coil tones into your favorite tube amp. And thanks to its 25.5" scale length, traditional country players will have no trouble adapting to this genre-bending instrument. A licensed Bigsby vibrato with pinned Tru-Arc Brass Rocking Bar and Gotoh locking tuners gives the Gretsch G6120T-SW expressive control with no compromise to tone or tuning stability. For Chet-picking and rockabilly to indie pop and rock, the Steve Wariner Nashville Gentleman is a classic Gretsch for modern players.

Comfortable archtop design

The Nashville Gentleman's reduced-size 15-3/4" laminated maple archtop body sports a gorgeous Magic Black sparkle nitro finish and lustrous gold hardware. Together, these give Steve's signature Gretsch archtop modern playing comforts and fetching good looks to stand up to virtually any style of music. Closed F-holes provide the classic archtop look while helping to control feedback in the live performance environment.

Modern playability

Steve Wariner's signature Nashville Gentleman is a true player's guitar. The 25.5"-scale Standard "U" maple neck with 12"-radiused ebony fingerboard and enlarged medium-jumbo frets makes this guitar a comfortable transition between classic Gretsch archtops and today's country music standards. A Chet-inspired brass nut gives open and fretted notes on the G6120T-SW consistent warmth, brilliance, and sustain.

TV Jones electronics

Steve Wariner's Nashville Gentleman packs industry-standard TV jones pickups and a refreshingly streamlined control scheme to provide quick access to some seriously coveted studio tones. The neck-position Paul Yandell Duo-Tron humbucker exhibits a smooth and clear tone that's great for rock rhythms and jazz cleans. Switching to the bridge-position Classic Plus unlocks a twangier, gnarlier voicing that's perfect for chicken pickin' to overdriven chordal crunch. It's all powered by a 3-way toggle, master volume, and master tone. Lifting up on the tone knob splits the pickups to reveal classic t-style Nashville tones.

Bigsby trem

A Gretsch archtop just wouldn't be complete without a Bigsby bridge, and in this way, the Steve Wariner G6120T-SW is no exception. Its stable trem system, paired with its pinned Tru-Arc Brass Rocking Bar and locking Gretsch Gotoh tuners, howls, screams, and wails with rockabilly delight while providing studio-stable tuning security. Discover the magic that's inspired players like Steve and countless other country hitmakers — take the Gretsch G6120T-SW Steve Wariner Nashville Gentleman from Sweetwater for a spin for yourself.

Steve Wariner Signature Gretsch

Absolutely gorgeous, a real looker with the subtle sparkle popping out when stage lights hit it. The choice of pickups could've been better in my opinion. Just a rich, clear, yet bold sound in every pickup position. The 25.5" scale length just works with this guitar. Better tuning stability, better twang. Setup perfectly from Sweetwater too! Thanks Jeff Law for all your help over the years. This model is one of the pricier Gretsch guitars, but I feel it is the best model that has ever come out from the Gretsch line. Highly recommend you grab one of them and have as big of a grin on your face as I do on mine every time I pick it up!

Took me 3.5 years to appreciate what I bought

For what I want, which is enough variation in tone to fit into songs I play along with to learn. My taste is I don't even care about current virtuosos. Fleetwood mac to U2, some K Pop!, Stones and other influences on Cheryl Crow, like the Pretenders. And mostly, I want definition across all strings at the appropriate times. I get that from the Gretsch. And learned that I want to trade my 408, not quite fitting what I play along with. For the 408 I have no complaints.

Fingerpickers Dream

I've been playing for 50 years - and for the last 16 have done 200+ shows a year sitting behind my pedal steel, and playing guitar. I don't normally buy new guitars - I like them broken in. I acquired a used 60's Country Gent many years back - a 'real' one :) - and didn't like it due to the narrow neck, and all the strange and confusing controls, which didn't really work that well. So sold it and sort of wrote off Gretsch long ago. I'm not a rockabilly guy, I like finger style, and a fatter sound. Steve Warnier has always been an inspiration, and he has really nailed this one - the neck is really nice, the controls are simple and work great! All the features add up to make it one of the best instruments I've ever purchased. Warnier can pick like Chet, and rock on a tele with the best of them, so I trusted that he could help create a fine guitar. Everything he specified for this axe is just right for me. Size, features, playability and tone work for me. Can't wait to play out again and hear it in the mix - it should sit just right - has sparkle and guts as needed. And the fit and finish is stunning - yes made in Japan, they do amazing work. This is the right tool for the job if you play fingerstyle and also need more than a one trick pony. Nice surprise (to me) - the strap buttons screw off so you can put on the strap easy, cool! I've had it about a month - and you all know this - if you've played a while, and have different instruments, it takes a while before you do a mind meld with a new instrument as you tweak and adjust and experiment with amps. I bonded with this one in about a week and now it's like I've had it for years. Top notch instrument. This is the 2nd guitar I've ordered from Sweetwater. I've shopped with them for 30 years or so and They do a great job. No lie, they do a thorough inspection and set up - it was in tune when I got - it arrived on a cold winter day, I knew not to open the box for a long while so it could acclimate - or risk finish cracks. Agony it waiting of course, but get this - Sweetwater had warning stickers on the box about that - good to see - some people don't know. Other than needing to change the action a tiny bit to suit - it was perfect when I got it. It won't make me play like Chet or Steve - but it will help me with my goals and needs. Price is right for the quality and Sweetwater has great options to help you manage payments. Plus, there was extra Bio-O-Honey candy in the box - just ship me Bit-O-Honey all the time! I notice in catalogs lots of same-same guitars, and new 'distressed' instruments from famous brands priced way more - for less features, style, class, and versatility. This works for me - Onward.
Music background: Guitarist for 50 years, and play multiple instruments. I play professionally, and perform primarily on pedal steel and guitar. Until Covid I was doing 250+ shows a year.
