Ordered this from Matthew, thanks Matthew!
I had Sweetwater Plek it and install a bone nut.
I replaced the bridge pickup with a TV Jones, just like Malcolm Young's beast, a $3000 guitar!
I removed the neck pickup and left the cavity open.
Upgraded the tuners to locking tuners and I use 11-48 strings!
I sanded the neck down to the wood and gun oiled it!
I am so happy how the tone matches with AC/DC tunes!
I have my version of the beast
I love this guitar!

My new favorite guitar

I've had this guitar for a few months now and it's become my favorite. The great thing about "affordable" guitars like this is that I'm not afraid to tinker with it for fear of diminishing its value if I ever chose to sell it (which I won't). I've played around with pickups (TV Jones filtertrons, and GFS single coils) and now I have it set up with GFS dream 90s and I think it sounds perfect. Great clean tones and really nice overdriven tones.

The price/quality ratio for this guitar is amazing. I had mine plek'd and given a bone nut before it was sent to me. It plays effortlessly and rings out forever. It's a real pleasure to play. I'm certain that the Japanese made version for $2.5k is beautiful, but I find little to complain about with this guitar. I also have a Fender mustang and Fender american performer telecaster. Those are nice too, but I think the tele is going to hit EBay soon because I always reach for the Gretsch first and the mustang second.

Fantastic vibe!

I got this guitar hoping that it would have a different sound from my other guitars due to the filtertron pickups. Well it does sound different but not necessarily in the classic Gretsch way. The Broad'Tron pick ups Sound great…. Sparkling cleans and growling with some gain. The guitar itself is flawless, and resonates beautifully. Fretwork is beautiful, neck is easy to play (though I like a satin finish neck better), and with some string stretching it holds tune beautifully. A bit neck heavy but nothing terrible….. not nearly as bad as my SG. I got some HS filter'trons to put in this guitar, but I think I'm going to wait a while and enjoy the sound that the guitar makes now. I like it so much I may just have to buy another Gretsch to put those filter'trons in! A great guitar for the money, and a great guitar at any price.

Wow

This guitar is the best out of the box guitar I've ever bought.
I have two new Gibsons.
An LP and an SG and this guitar is nicer, prettier, better sounding and easier to play. At 1/4 the cost of either of the Gibsons.
I love playing it. Perfect intonation and not a buzz anywhere with the action set at .050"
Amazing fit and finish.
And these pick ups are amazing.

Surprisingly nice for the money

I was honestly shocked at how nice it sounded and the quality of the build considering the price tag. I found it sits a little funny after a bit of playing and rotating it out with a SG Standard and a Les Paul Deluxe. Overall I recommend for classic rock tones as well as overall appearance.
