Black Top Broad’Tron pickups give you classic Gretsch humbucker tone

When you want classic ’50s-era archtop guitar tone, Sweetwater guitarists agree that you need real Gretsch humbuckers. That’s why Gretsch gave the G5220 Electromatic Jet a pair of Black Top Broad’Tron pickups. These humbuckers give you traditional Gretsch growl and grit, and they deliver pristine clean tone when needed. In addition, controls for individual pickup volume, master tone, and master volume with treble bleed circuit provide exceptional tonal range and control, putting you in the driver’s seat as you explore your own style.

A neck cut for play

The G5220 features a mahogany neck cut to a thin “U” profile that players love for its comfort and incredible response. The 22 medium jumbo frets are ideal for lead playing as well as forming chords up and down the neck. The black walnut fingerboard features classic pearloid big block inlays that exude vintage Gretsch vibe and visuals. And with an anchored Adjusto-matic bridge with V-Stoptail, you get great sustain from each and every note.

Beautiful Guitar

Very happy with my G5220, BT Humbucking pickups sound rich and full with the right amount of growl when pushed. Jade gray metallic is stunning and Sweetwater did a great job of setting it up, slight tune up and it was ready to play. Awesome guitar!

Music background: Playing guitar for 50+ years

Unbelievable !

These are very, very good quality for the price. Very well built, fit and finish is impeccable, sound is amazing and playability like butter. I had a pro setup done on mine and installed Ernie Ball Paradigm 10-46 strings. What a nice well made guitar I can hardly believe the quality for the price. This guitar is better than my DeAngeiico, and rivals my Fender.

Excelent choice

I have owned a lot of guitars in my day. this one is up there. Highly recommend. And for the money...if you prefer solid body...it might be the best one out there.

THIS THING KICKS HARD

Love things thing everything about it is prefect about it. I mainly use a blues driver as my main go to effect pedal with this guitar and it takes it to a whole new level. Great for playing live and also the color of this thing can change color depending on the lighting. In a bright light it's super shiny and in dim light it's dark almost like a kinda blueish grey.

Legitimately Impressed

This was my first Guitar from Sweetwater (second guitar overall) and definitely won't be the last. The service was great (shout out to Eric Mathews!), I was surprised to get a call shortly after placing the order and getting a rundown of the ordering process, the included inspection, and the warranty. Then a follow up email with pictures of the specific guitar, it was a nice touch and the over all experience really helped justifying buying an instrument sight unseen. Thinking a Tele will be next...

As for the guitar, I'm really impressed. Honestly haven't found a flaw on it so far, no fret spurs, nut is spot on, no seeping glue, no blemishes to speak of. This is only my second guitar, a follow up to my Yamaha Pacifica 012 and the fit, finish, sound, feel, all on another level. These Broadtron pickups are pretty bright and clear, yet very versatile. I'm finding it to be a very easy and fun guitar to play, things just fall right into place. If you can overlook the made (sorry... "crafted" according to the headstock) in China part, you really can't go wrong, especially at this price point. I also ordered this with the Gretsch G6238FT flat case, fits like a glove.
