Beautifully Designed 12-string Acoustic-electric from D'Angelico

In an effort to bring 12-string acoustic guitar players both incredible comfort as well as wonderful tone, D'Angelico introduces their first 12-string acoustic-electric: the Premier Fulton. This Grand Auditorium acoustic features a smaller, 16-inch-wide all-mahogany body for stellar tone that delivers robust bass and shiny high end. A gorgeous mahogany neck with torrefied merbau fingerboard offers wonderful playability and response. When you're ready to plug in, a D'Angelico MG-30 Preamp/Tuner kicks out rich, amplified acoustic tone. If you've been searching for that classic, chimey 12-string sound, the Premier Fulton delivers!

A neck made to play!

The mahogany neck on the Premier Fulton has been cut to a player-friendly slim "C"-shape. The "C"-shape profile is a favorite among guitarists here at Sweetwater, and for good reason. Its contours are beautifully matched to the natural curvature of your palm, making chording and lead playing easier. In addition, this smooth neck also features 20 medium jumbo frets along the merbau fingerboard, adding to the comfort and ease of forming chords and laying down lead lines. And with the deep cutaway, you get easy access to higher notes and creative chordings.

A legacy of excellence

Manhattan's Little Italy, 1932. John D'Angelico opens a shop at 40 Kenmare Street offering handcrafted acoustics for New York's jazz players. Over the next three decades, D'Angelico and a single apprentice became New York's foremost builders and created over one thousand treasured archtop guitars until John D'Angelico's death in 1964. Following his passing, D'Angelico's legacy lived on only through his rare, legendary instruments. After decades, the D'Angelico brand has resurfaced, bringing back the playability and attention to detail of their New York roots. Today, D'Angelico uses state-of-the-art manufacturing processes and the best materials available to create playable works of art for today's guitarist. From a one-off shop in Little Italy to the world stage, D'Angelico's dedication to quality craftsmanship ensures that this brand won't be going dormant any time soon.

The Good The Bad and The Ugly

Let's start with the good. This guitar sounds very nice, Has a nice look to it But more importantly. It has a wonderful playability. I did not get a set up on this guitar. Yet out of the Box it had one of the lowest action I've ever seen in a guitar. I don't hear any buzzing on any of the fretboard. For a guitar in this price range it's absolutely stunning.

Now on to the bad. They tighten the screws on the preamp a little too hard and it made small little cracks it's so small it's hard to see but it's there. These cracks don't go all the way through and they're just on the very top of the surface. Now technically I could probably get guitar changed because of Sweetwater beautiful customer service but I fallen in love with this guitar.

So what's the ugly you might ask? It makes cracking noises every now and then when it's plugged into the amp. I probably just need to go in and resolder some of the wire. Now I've had this guitar for a while before it did this. Yet the thing that bugs me the most about this guitar is how much I want to change on it but refuse to because of how well it already plays. I would love to replace all the plastic with bone and wood But until it starts playing worse, I'm not touching it.

I fully recommend this guitar.

In love

I absolutely love this guitar. I played a 12 string in a music shop once about 8 years ago and instantly fell on love. I knew one day I'd own a 12 string and that day has finally come. After alot of searching and review reading, I chose this one as it is budget friendly and has amazing reviews. I was definitely not disappointed! This thing is amazing. Sounds great, holds tune well, is not bulky, and is just plain beautiful. I actually enjoy playing it more than my 6 string Taylor 322CE.

Great buy!

I was expecting something kind of mediocre. It sounds wonderful. It records wonderfully. I was afraid, because of the smaller body size, that it might be too bright. But it's very balanced. It also plays quite easily. Great buy.
