Ready to pick up your first Kramer guitar and start rocking? Then, there’s no better choice than the Kramer Focus VT-211S electric guitar. This classically styled six-string provides an affordable entry point for new guitarists, while delivering top-notch tone from its combination of two Kramer Alnico V single-coil pickups and a Kramer Alnico V humbucker pickup. An all-mahogany body is packed with deep, warm tone contrasted against a snappy maple neck with a super-fast 12-inch radius fingerboard and 21 medium jumbo frets — perfect for aspiring virtuosos. Guitarist at Sweetwater all remember their first axe, and very few of us had one as slick as the Kramer Focus VT-211S. Iconic design with a twist

The Kramer Focus VT-211S starts with a familiar ‘S’ body shape, with a conformable arm contour and tummy cut, leading into a slim-profile maple neck. Then it turns it up a notch, tricking it out with custom Kramer hardware, including a traditional tremolo bridge, knurled chrome control knobs, and deluxe covered machine heads. A matching headstock gives the Focus VT-211S an extra pop of color and touch of swagger.

Find your favorite tones

With its HSS pickup configuration, the Kramer Focus VT-211S provides a large canvas for exploring how to shape your guitar tones. Two powerful custom Kramer Alnico V SC-1 single-coil pickups sit in the middle and neck positions, delivering the classic brightness and clarity for which single-coils are known. Sitting in the bridge position, a custom Kramer Alnico V humbucker dishes out an aggressive midrange attack and bite that begs to be run through a distortion pedal or overdriven guitar amp. A five-way selector switch and tone and volume controls let you cook up a vast range of guitar sounds, so you can find your favorite tones, no matter what kind of music you’re playing.

Great for modding

I bought this as a project to add some upgrades and make into an everyday player. It is a perfect platform for modding. The pickups sound very good for a guitar at this price point. I will be changing the tuning machines, since the stock ones seem very cheap. Other than that, this guitar is very solid. Love the color. It is not actually NEON green, but more of a lime green.

Lime Green NOT Neon Green

First off, I bought this to modify. For the price, it's not bad. The pickups actually sound really nice, especially the single coils. Fret ends are smooth. Neck is a slim C, reminds me of a Sch€cter, which I love! The tuners work but are probably the worst tuners I've ever used. Change the tuners and it'll be a solid guitar... they're not 10mm holes so you'll need to drill them out or use vintage-style tuners. The bridge is 52.5mm(10.5mm saddles). You'll want a Tusq PT-5042-00 nut.

Better for the experienced modder than a beginner, but fun either way

Having grown up in the 1980's, I had long wanted a neon green 80's rock machine at an affordable price. When I saw this, I immediately placed an order. If you watch any youtube reviews of this guitar the first thing they tell you is the tuners are essentially unusable. Not entirely true, as the ones on my guitar were not the greatest I grant you, but they did function and held tune well. Doubly so after a quick application of some graphite into the nut slots. With that said, same day I ordered this I ordered a set of drop in Kluson plus series tuners that were a noticible improvement.

Pickups are around 6.5 dcr for the singles and 9.5 dcr for the bridge. They are HOT though, easily overdriving even on clean settings. The guitar will take a standard Strat pickguard but I had to redrill 10 of the 11 mounting holes when I switched to a black pickguard and upgraded the pickups to 2 dragonfire hot rails and a dimarzio super distortion.

As expected, I had to adjust the truss rod to straighten out the neck. Luckily I had tools from other guitars lying around as a truss rod wrench wasn't included. I got the bridge saddle adjusting wrench, but not one for the truss rod. It's 4mm by the way, should you have the same issue. No fret sprout and all the frets were level and shiny.

The body is light and comfortable and the neck is FAST and overall the guitar is very fun to play. For the price of $149 (its since gone up since I bought mine), it was a worthwhile purchase and am still considering the neon pink one as well even with the $50 price increase.

If you're buying this for a beginner, or are a beginner buying it, either know how to properly set up a guitar or buy it fully knowing you'll need to take it to a professional tech in a local music store to get it set up right.
Music background: professional commercial musician.
