Experience the Rare 1958 Korina Flying V

An inspired re-creation of one of the most collectible guitars ever built, the Epiphone 1958 Korina Flying V was crafted in partnership with the Gibson Custom Shop. This solidbody electric guitar's radical "V"-shaped Korina body yields a resonant sound reminiscent of top-shelf mahogany. Its korina neck vaunts a period-correct neck shape and a long neck tenon for spot-on vintage feel and playability. Plug into your favorite amp and revel in timeless PAF tones, courtesy of Gibson Burstbucker humbucking pickups. You also get high-spec'd electronics, with premium Mallory caps and CTS pots. You'll also appreciate the 1958 Korina Flying V's hardware, which includes an ABR-1 bridge, a gold-plated brass string plate, and deluxe tuning machines. This guitar boasts a host of high-end appointments, including black top hat knobs with nickel dial pointers, attractive gold hardware, and a gorgeous aged gloss finish. The '58 Korina Flying V is one of the most valuable production-model guitars. Now, thanks to Epiphone, you can experience the magic for yourself.

Ultra-rare korina body and neck

Like the ultra-rare original Gibson model that inspired it, the 1958 Korina Flying V features a korina body and a korina neck with a period-correct neck shape and long neck tenon. This solidbody electric guitar's rich, warm acoustic tone bears a striking similarity to top-quality mahogany, but with a hair more high end. What's more, the 1958 Korina Flying V's natural light yellow-green color is a guaranteed head-turner. Once we got our hands on this guitar here at Sweetwater, we had a tough time putting it down.

Gibson Burstbuckers deliver rock-solid tone

There's a reason players keep coming back to the tried-and-true combo of premium humbucking pickups. With a Burstbucker 3 in the bridge position and a Burstbucker 2 in the neck position, the Epiphone 1958 Korina Flying V is as close to a '50s-era guitar as it gets. Specially engineered for authentic PAF tone, these humbuckers go from dark and intense to smokin' hot, delivering the classic bark and bite that rockers and blues guitarists have sought for decades. To top it off, the 1958 Korina Flying V includes high-quality CTS pots and Mallory capacitors.

You can't go wrong with this classic axe

The Flying V's radical look and high-octane sound have inspired rock and metal guitarists for decades, and the 1958 Korina Flying V takes you right back to where it all started. Besides the korina body and neck and the vintage-voiced electronics, this solidbody electric guitar also boasts an ABR-1 bridge, a gold-plated brass string plate, deluxe tuning machines, black top hat knobs with nickel dial pointers, attractive gold hardware, and an eye-catching aged gloss finish. If you want a true modern classic, then there's only one thing to do: pick up the 1958 Korina Flying V.

  • An inspired re-creation of a 1958 Gibson Korina Flying V

Why Buy Your Guitar from Sweetwater?

See how Sweetwater goes to great lengths to give you the very best online guitar buying experience. From our online Guitar Gallery that allows you to see and select the exact instrument you want to our 55-point Inspection process and our in-house guitar techs, we take the guesswork out of buying your next guitar online.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Korina! Korina!

Epiphone has really nailed it with these new Korina Flying Vs and Explorers. Genuine 2-piece Korina bodies (just like you'd get from Gibson), no laminates or wraps, a long tenon, CTS pots w/ a Mallory cap, Gibson Burstbucker 2/3 pickups, a Switchcraft 3-way switch and output jack, a fat 58 neck profile, "Aged Natural" (ie, satin) finish (feels smooth and slick in-hand, not tacky or sticky—and seems thinner than the usual thick Epi finish), an ABR-1 "style" bridge that sits on what looks to be ABR-1 type screws/posts that look screwed directly into the body (rather than the usual big, fat Nashville-ish inserts/posts most Epi bridges ride on), a super cool white pickguard (whiteguards rule! ;)) and a gorgeous pink/brown case.

Totally top tier stuff here from Epiphone (mine even came well setup from the factory and the strings were even fresh) abut then, it better be because you're paying a top tier price for sure!

My V and Explorer (which I also bought) snarl and sing and sustain and are super lightweight and resonant. These guitars are twice the guitars that the "other" Epiphone Korinas are (the "Exclusive" version that can be found at AMS & zZounds which have 3-5-piece bodies, laminates front/back to hide that fact, cheap Epi pickups, cheap pots, skinny necks, globs of thick glossy polyurethane, and no cases). I have a V and Moderne from those models, as well, and trust me these new CS-collab ones smoke them! I just wish Epiphone would have done a Moderne in this new CS-collab too! Would be awesome to have all three like this.

A lot of Guitar for this price point

Wow! This V has got it all. What a great partnership between Epiphone and the Gibson Custom Shop. Vintage looks, Gibson hardware and pups. Stable Epiphone Deluxe tuners, the beautiful Korina body, just resonates with each note. The tones that are achieved are endless. The lightweight Korina feels so good to play. Definitely rivals it's Gibson counterparts. The case included! Yes this is a fantastic deal and guitar. Thanks Kurt and Sammi for once again taking care of me. Sweetwater, 5 stars!

Best Epiphone Ever!!

I used to be snobbish about buying Gibsons… Epiphones…they were the cheaper knockoff or so I thought. This guitar single handedly changed my mind completely!!! The WOW factor for this guitar is just amazing! The smooth satin finish is the first noticeable "feel appeal" that got my attention. It feels like talcum powder. Soft smooth satiny finish without that high gloss look which makes certain guitars look cheap. The low action was the second factor. I hardly had to do anything to get this to play correctly. The neck is straight and the action is low and then when you plug it in….. the whole fun factor comes alive making you not want to put it down for a second. This is such a well made guitar and the price point is incredible!!! So why cannot Gibson do this and Epiphone can?? Does not matter…. If Epiphone keeps doing this…. I am a fan of this new Epiphone turnaround and if it is good enough for Joe Bonamassa… then I can also submit and say…. This guitar will be in my collection and loved on and played every chance I get. I also invited you to let loose and just play all the riffs you can think up…. Does not hinder you because of its shape….. an excuse I hear many guitar friends say about V's…. Buy this guitar and enjoy your life. The case that comes with this is worth the price of admission alone!!! Bulletproof and safe and as good as anything I have seen from Gibson!!! I love this guitar beyond words!!

One Great Flying V

I purchased the Epiphone korina Flying V the same time I ordered the Epiphone korina Explorer (read my review on that guitar). I was attracted to this guitar because of the high end specs and fantastic looks. The Epiphone Flying V is equipped with Gibson Burst Bucker pickups, CTS pots, Switchcraft pickup selector switch and output jack, and a Mallory capacitor. The body and neck are solid korina resulting in a very light guitar. The fretboard is Indian Laurel. The hardware is Epiphone which I believe is as good as they use on Gibsons. Fit and finish is perfect and the frets are particularly well done. The guitar came set up very well and ready to play thanks to the Sweetwater 55 point inspection. The guitar also comes with a really cool hard shell case. This guitar is fun to play and it sounds like a Gibson. If you find yourself looking at the Gibson version of this guitar and don't want to spend $, this is a great alternative. I highly recommend this guitar. Thanks to Brian Campbell for his assistance and follow-up on this purchase.

Surpassed my expectations by far!

This guitar is perfect in every way. Extreme resonance, (the most resonant I've ever played), and excellent sustain. Pick-ups sound amazing. Frets are nice, and accurate, they'll get a slight polish at set-up but that's all they need, and it's easy to do. That should be expected with most guitars in this price range. Stays in tune, very solid top to bottom. I have zero complaints on this axe! A very big thank you to my sales engineer Dave Ashley at Sweetwater!
