TC’s Flagship Delay Pedal

Flashback 2 X4 is the latest iteration of TC Electronic’s flagship delay pedal. It features 10 delay types, including TC’s new Crystal delay and hyperrealistic Analog and Tape emulations. Craft all kinds of interesting rhythmic delay patterns, thanks to a dedicated Tap switch and 10 preset note subdivisions. Enjoy touch-sensitive expression control, courtesy of three MASH footswitches. You also get six TonePrint slots and up to six stored presets for rapid, easy recall. Want to create spellbinding layered performances? Flashback 2 X4’s built-in 40-second looper makes it easy — and fun! What’s more, expression pedal and MIDI inputs enable remote preset changes and external MIDI synchronization. Flashback 2 X4 includes analog-dry-through circuitry to preserve your analog tone, along with stereo I/O for creating expansive soundscapes. If you enjoyed its predecessor, you’ll love the many player-friendly features included with Flashback 2 X4.

Loaded with tone-shaping tools

Flashback 2 X4 includes a dedicated Tap switch to keep your delay effects right on the beat — hands-free. You can select from 10 preset note subdivisions plus one custom setting, which are independent from Flashback 2 X4’s 10 delay types. The way this delay pedal handles your dry signal is also unique, giving it an all-analog path that blends with the effected signal. On top of all these great features, Flashback 2 X4 also includes TC Electronic's TonePrint technology, which allows you to download custom delay styles made by some of today's top guitarists.

Six TonePrint slots to customize your delay

TonePrint-enabled pedals, such as TC Electronic’s Flashback 2 X4, allow you to use the TonePrint app to download custom-designed artist presets. You can also use the TonePrint editor software to create your own custom settings. Flashback 2 X4 allows you to load up six different TonePrint presets simultaneously for more flexibility onstage. When you need instant access to your tone, just choose one of the six TonePrints you've loaded and away you go.

Three MASH footswitches for expressive effects

Three innovative MASH footswitches give Flashback 2 X4 amazing creative potential. In addition to instant toggling between delay sounds, these pressure-sensitive footswitches can be used in a similar fashion to an expression pedal. Use them to swell the delay mix, bring modulation to the repeats, and even increase the feedback amount. Or assign other parameters to the MASH footswitches for even more sonic creativity. The guitarists here at Sweetwater appreciate the level of creative expression Flashback 2 X4’s MASH footswitches provide.

Awesome stereo

Started running a stereo guitar rig a few years ago. Don't think I can ever go back to running a mono amplifier. This delay pedal does it all for a great price. Really enjoying the super rich tone coming out of two amplifiers. I have the small version on my pedal board that I use to play with my band. So I thought I would buy this big one to have at the house where I have plenty of room and this one did not disappoint. It has a looper and all the delay settings you could ever want The knobs are big and it sounds fantastic. For what you're getting the price is amazing. I'm sure The Starlight is a better sounding unit but for the money I am really loving this thing in stereo. I run my guitar through the ToneX pedal and then into this and then out to two amplifiers. Talk about lush delay this is it! I could go on and on for the price and the sound this thing can't be beat! Thanks Will this thing is awesome and such a great price from Sweetwater You got to love it!!!

Great sounds. Lacks proper documentation.

There's not a bad sound in this pedal but I must deduct one star for being told WHAT the pedal can do rather than HOW to do it. I already knew it would sound great the question was always how good and easy the Toneprint editor was going to be. It has tweaks for days but never tells you how to transfer an edited Toneprint to a preset footswitch. It can't be done until you disconnect the editor from the pedal. Then you can store the Toneprint to a preset. Without this knowledge you'll be bending over all through your gig rotating a knob to the different Toneprint slots. The rest of the editor is fairly intuitive but there's lots to figure out for yourself that could have been easily explained. The online videos don't even scratch the surface and the downloadable instructions are little more than a quick start guide. The Mash thing is cool and useful but the parameters assigned to Mash are all or nothing and values are not editable as they are with an expression pedal. The Toneprints from the stars are not editable and they are all disengaged when your expression pedal is all the way heel down. Not good. But the TC library of Toneprints are editable and a good place to start to customize your own TPs. Several times while gigging I found a delay to still be happening after I had stepped on the preset footswitch to cut the pedal off. I had to rotate the effect selection knob to something else for the delay to stop. It was like the pedal kept accessing a delay from the selection knob even though I was just using the 6 presets.

Amazing Flexibility

I absolutely love this pedal. I love it so much I returned it...and bought a Plethora X5 so I could have as many of them as I needed. The Toneprint software is amazing if you are an advanced used and are really looking to develop you own particular sound. Pretty much any idea of digital, analog, saturation, feedback character, etc. you can dream of, this pedal can do it...and you can stack them for amazing ambient swells. The only thing you can't do is cross the L/R paths with a panning control. This would be useful to recreate things like the Andy Timmons HALO pedal, but that one is amazing as well if you need that one thing. The FB pedals are amazing for the money, and amazing regardless of the money. High headroom, clean, but dirty if you need that too. No regrets on this one, and I return most pedals as they dissapoint my sound design needs.

Excellent value and just overall great pedal!

This thing is awesome! I had a boss delay, but I switched to this for the sole reason of being able to bank presets. It does that perfectly, but I'm also impressed with everything else about this! The delay types sound great, it's easy to set specific subdivisions and the tap tempo built in… it's just great! And also… You get a looper, it's basic, but works great! Honestly I think it's hard to beat the value of this pedal!
