Short-scale Bass for Pounding Rock Tone

Packing a world-renowned Magnetic Field Design (MFD) humbucking pickup in an ultra-comfortable contoured body, the G&L Tribute Fallout delivers undeniably fat rock tone along with eminent playability. With its 30-inch scale length, this short-scale bass speaks with a powerful and deep voice, and it's a versatile voice indeed — a three-way pickup selector allows you to choose from distinct series/split/parallel pickup coil configurations. The Tribute Fallout's attack is fast, punchy, and resonant, largely thanks to the acclaimed Leo Fender-designed Saddle-Lock bridge. If you're looking for a stage- and studio-ready short-scale bass at a budget-friendly price, your expectations will be exceeded with the G&L Tribute Fallout short-scale electric bass.

Magnetic Field Design pickups bring the thunder

The Tribute Fallout bass owes much of its bone-rattling tone to its single Magnetic Field Design humbucker. Unique to G&L, Magnetic Field Design pickups are built around a ceramic bar magnet laid under each coil, and they feature individually adjustable pole pieces to give you complete control over your tone. Their inherent sound is warm and deep, with punchy high-mids and an open top-end. And, with double the output per wind over standard designs, Magnetic Field Design will easily push any amplifier into its sweet spot.

Three pickup modes for incredible tonal flexibility

G&L strives to give players unparalleled flexibility when shaping their tone, and the Tribute Fallout doesn’t disappoint on this front. On the face of it, the Tribute Fallout has a straightforward control set, with knobs for volume and tone. However, a discrete three-way mini-toggle switch unlocks incredible possibilities, allowing you to switch between parallel, split-coil, and series modes. Each mode offers its own unique sonic strengths, while maintaining the fat and rich sound the MFD pickup is known for.

Saddle-Lock bridge increases resonance and sustain

Another G&L innovation has found its way into the Tribute Fallout bass — the G&L Saddle-Lock bridge. The Saddle-Lock bridge — designed by Leo Fender himself — reduces the lateral movement of the saddle pieces by tightening an Allen screw on the side of the bridge. Additionally, the Saddle-Lock bridge has a solid protrusion on its backside that is sunk firmly into the instrument’s body wood. Together, these two features make it easier for string energy to travel into the body and translate into a rich, resonant, and sustaining sound, making G&L basses popular with rock bassists at Sweetwater.

G&L Tribute Fallout Electric Bass Features:

  • Easy-playing short-scale bass with a deep, powerful voice
  • Magnetic Field Design humbucking pickup delivers high-output passive tone
  • Pickup pole pieces are independently adjustable to fine-tune your sound
  • 3-way toggle lets you switch between parallel, split-coil, and series coil configurations
  • Saddle-Lock bridge improves resonance and sustain

It's great. No complaints and only praise

I can't say enough good things about this short-scale bass and just don't know where to start. What impresses me most is how good it feels in the hands. The neck, action and playability is wonderful. One can play so much more smoother and faster on this short-scale beauty. Notes are distinct up and down the entire register, from the lows to the highs. It has great sustain, yet it doesn't get away from you. it has a nice growl on the low end, and sings on the high end. Electronics are fine and easy to understand with simple volume and tone controls and a 3-way switch tapping into Single Coil, Parallel, and OMG modes (OMG is bassically, pun intended, a bass boost). The standard stock photo is nice, but in-the-flesh this bass looks even better (I have the black model with tortoise shell pick guard). G&L is known for good quality control, and I recall reading somewhere that Leo Fender said his best work was with G&L. I've seen, played and owned a lot of basses in my time and I can't say enough good about the G&L Fallout short scale bass guitar. You will not be disappointed

Very Pleased

I bought this bass in the B-Stock, it was supposed to have some kind of scratches or blemish on the body. I think they may have made a mistake. I did find some very, very minor scratchy on the pick guard, otherwise it was In perfect condition. Danny Mosco was there to help me. Danny provided me with helpful advice and service. He helped insure me that the packaging was excellent to insure that the bass guitar would not be damaged during transit, he went as far as having my guitar put into the insulated gig bag for protection and that box was placed into the shipping box with foam and bubble wrap. The guitar arrived in perfect condition. SWEETWATER and their people are top notch, so give Danny a call (800) 222-4700, today and he'll be happy to help you with any questions or concerns that you may have

Amazing!

At 62, my arthritis limits my ability to play my beloved P bass. Although I'll never sell my Fender, a short scale bass was the answer. I'm AMAZED at the quality and tone of this bass at this price point. Fit and finish is perfect and the satin neck finish feels great. Shout out to Bevin for his hard work during the decision-making process! Always a great experience at Sweetwater! A+

G & L Tribute Fallout Bass

I never saw myself being happy with a short scale bass. All of the ones I have tried over the years seemed to sound like crap and had no appeal. Over the past few years that seems to have changed with many manufacturers and builders coming up with shorter scale basses that don't sound bad and are actually decent, useable alternatives to the standard 34" scale instrument.

Recently is occurred to me that one might be a good idea for some of the gigs we've been doing where space is at a premium.

I've always liked G & L instruments. Ed Friedland even has some youtube videos about this bass. He likes them a lot and even plays a US made one with the Mavericks. If Ed likes it, that's good enough for me. Gigged with mine this past weekend and it worked and sounded great!

Awesome short scale bass

The Jet Black G&L Fallout is the first short scale bass I have owned and I think it's awesome. The humbucker delivers a big fat sound and some variations in tone can be achieved with the tone control and the series/split/parallel switch. The guitar weight is balanced, it looks good and is fun to play. It's not American made but it's good G&L quality. A great buy for the money.
