High-value Folk Acoustic-electric

The Yamaha FSX800C acoustic-electric guitar stems from a long heritage of amazing FG "folk guitar" acoustic guitars and gives you incredible value at an entry-level price. The guitar's combination of premium tonewoods makes it a great value for seasoned players. Its combination of a smaller folk body, solid Sitka spruce top, and nato back and sides is responsible for the FSX800C's beautiful voice. And Yamaha's System-66 electronics take that sound onto the stage. Let your guitar-playing journey start with an amazing instrument you'll love playing for years to come — the Yamaha FSX800C folk acoustic guitar.

Genuine Sitka spruce top for great tone

Yamaha chose a solid Sitka spruce top for their FSX800C for both its look and tone. Sitka spruce has a well-rounded, articulate sound with excellent projection. These qualities have made it the undisputed leader for acoustic guitar tops throughout the industry. And because it's a solid-wood top, the tone will age gracefully, with enhanced harmonics and greater tonal balance as the years go by. Yamaha also improved their scalloped bracing on the FSX800C to allow for more top movement, resulting in a larger low end and more projection.

Nato back and sides

The FSX800C sports a body made from nato. This wood is really impressing strummers at Sweetwater for its warm tone that is very reminiscent of mahogany. Its rich sound enhances the midrange frequencies while maintaining top-end clarity, making it great for strumming. The sound is gentle and full, which is ideal for vocal accompaniment. Combined with the lively and defined sound of the spruce top, you'll love the rich tone you get from the Yamaha FSX800C folk acoustic-electric.

Yamaha System-66 electronics

The Yamaha FSX800C acoustic-electric guitar also has you covered when it's time to take the stage. The System-66 pickup and preamp electronics deliver the true sound of your guitar's spruce and nato tonewoods. The onboard preamp features a 3-band EQ with sweepable mids to help notch out unwanted feedback. It also boasts a fast and reliable tuner to keep your performances sounding great. And the battery compartment is easily accessed on the upper bout of the guitar for quick changes.

Player Port app: the complete beginner's toolkit

With its wallet-friendly price point and extensive feature set, the FSX800C is already a fantastic instrument for beginners or anyone else looking to add a top-notch acoustic to their arsenal. Yamaha is here to sweeten the pot even more, courtesy of their highly versatile Player Port app. Available for both iOS and Android devices, Player Port is a fantastic all-in-one resource for newcomers. Just download the app, register your Yamaha, and gain access to tips, tricks, articles, videos, an FAQ section, and more tools catered especially to the fledgling player. Player Port even comes stock with a free built-in tuner that doesn't require an instrument registration to use, making this incredible app all the more impressive.

FSX-800C

This is my first acoustic guitar. It arrived in great shape. So far I am loving it. The only thing on that I will change is the action. It seems to be a little high for me. I love the sound and it looks great.
Music background: Just learning to play.

Pro level at a student price

I'm a pro guitarist with 55 years of gigs under my belt. I never owned an acoustic flat top guitar since I played either nylon strung or electric guitars. Got a call for a nice gig that demanded acoustic flat-top, went shopping and found the Yamaha FSX800c, played it, fell in love, bought it, took it to the gig after a pro setup (recommended), and it's become a daily player, and a standout with my country band. I found a tobacco-finished one, very pretty on stage. The electronics are excellent, the look is expensive, and it really does the job.
Music background: Professional for 0ver 50 years, recording artist, producer, arranger.

This Guitar Has the X Factor

I spent hours and hours playing different AEs in my local shops and fell in love with a Taylor Mini. The $800 price tag was higher than I'd hoped but it was the only guitar I didn't want to put down. I decided to try this Yamaha last second before ordering the Taylor and WOW. It instantly had the same "at home" feel in my lap and hands. The first few chords I strummed I could tell the tone and projection was leaps and bounds above anything else in the price range and a pretty close second to the Taylor. Took it home and haven't put it down in the two weeks since. I won't say that this guitar is an equal to the Taylor, but I don't feel that I sacrificed much in going with this guitar for less than half the price. It sounds so good unplugged that I've played it 90% acoustically - I would put it up against the voice of many standard acoustic guitars in this price range.

Pros:
- Fantastic tone. Full bodied and well rounded, leaning slightly toward the high end
- Great, classic aesthetic
- Good+ action out of the box, could be great with a good setup
- Very high quality build and feel, no cosmetic flaws
- Uses AA batteries instead of expensive D cells

Cons:
- No strap nut at the neck
- Would prefer a chromatic tuner for alternate tunings (though the tuner does work well)
- Personally not a fan of combo input/strap button but again, it works fine

Honestly if you're on the fence just get it

Great guitar

My first guitar, although I grew up listening to my dad and brother play, so I can recognize a good guitar. The appearance is as lovely in person as it is in the pictures, or more so. The sound is good in terms of volume and resolution. Nice and crisp. And for the price, I think it was a great deal. Would recommend.
Music background: New to guitar, 25+ years on piano/keys

Plays like an electric

I love this guitar. It is versatile and plays like butter.
