Pulverize Your Low End
ESP’s hallmark aesthetics have been slaying stages across the heaviest of shows for decades, and bassists worldwide feel their love for the low end. With the LTD FL-4, their bass offering enters a new era of both style and performance. The FL-4 refines the distinctive lines and contours established by the brand’s F-series of guitars and basses, eschewing a second pickup and re-molded to feel fiercer than ever. Pair this with its ultra-fast neck, 24-fret fingerboard, and dynamic electronics, and you’ve got a relentless metal machine that Sweetwater’s bassists love to show off. Thundering lows, precision play, and eye-catching aesthetics scratch the surface of what this 4-string powerhouse has to offer.

Earthshaking engineering
In designing the FL-4, ESP’s luthiers spared no effort in ensuring a precise combination of tonewoods that any member of the metal militia would find are up to the task. Alder comprises the body, known for its rich, sonorous lows, articulate mids, and loads of sustain. Up top, a Macassar ebony fingerboard delivers crystalline precision with clarity through every note across the spectrum. A mahogany neck serves as a fantastic sonic anchor, often chosen for its thicker mids, producing distinctive, shimmering overtones while remaining balanced across every register. Together, this places the FL-4 in a prestigious class of basses, masterfully blending distinguished voicing with thunder low end that maintains articulation.
Speed, precision, and comfort
Players of any creed will appreciate the 3-piece neck design, offering dimensional stability while maintaining its best sonic attributes. Its neck-through design and body contours provide unimpeded access to the full range of the FL-4’s 24-fret spread. A 34-inch scale sprawls the sonically and aesthetically distinct Macassar ebony fingerboard, itself finished with a visually striking binding to complement the remarkable finish. To keep these behemoth tones in check, your strings are bookended by Grover Mini tuning machines and a hearty Hipshot A Style bridge. A molded 1.57-inch nut means balanced, resilient intonation as you speed through every extra-jumbo fret nestled opposite the extra-thin "U" profile.
Voltaic tones
In true metal fashion, the FL-4 is outfitted with a single bridge pickup. Weapon of choice? A Fishman Fluence SB-1. For the uninitiated, Fishman’s Fluence series of pickups are renowned for their innovative, multi-voiced design, eliciting a much broader dynamic range than a conventional pickup, with bassists particularly benefiting from the design’s increased articulation. As an active pickup, its simmering sonics are given an even greater scope of possibilities, and the push-pull volume knob lets you quickly toggle the single-coil mode.
