A Truly One-of-a-kind Acoustic Experience

The Yamaha FGC-TA TransAcoustic acoustic-electric guitar is a high-quality instrument that delivers an acoustic experience like no other guitar before it. With Yamaha's onboard TransAcoustic reverb and chorus effects, you'll enjoy the tones of playing in a rich and lively acoustic space no matter where you are. The FGC-TA features a dreadnought cutaway body with mahogany back and sides and a solid Sitka spruce top. You'll love the feel of this guitar's fast-action neck and smooth, bound rosewood fingerboard. The Yamaha FGC-TA TransAcoustic will add new inspiration to your playing.

Unamplified ambience

Yamaha's groundbreaking TransAcoustic technology delivers onboard reverb and chorus effects. What sets TransAcoustic guitars apart from other instruments with onboard effects is that they don't require any external amplification. Engage the effects via the simple-to-use controls, and it's like you're playing in a rich, ambient venue — no amp or PA required. And when it's time for the gig, you can access those same great tones plugged in through the guitar's System70 + SRT Piezo pickup system.

How it works

The key to TransAcoustic is an integrated actuator, a small device hidden inside the guitar. The vibration of the instrument's strings causes the actuator to vibrate; these vibrations are transmitted to the guitar body, as well as the air around the guitar. The result is authentic reverb and chorus — without the need for any additional amplification or effects.

Yamaha's best-selling FGC series

Guitarists at Sweetwater love Yamaha's FGC series guitars. It's not hard to see why they are worldwide best sellers: the comfortable dreadnought bodies, professional-grade tonewoods, and fast-playing necks make these acoustics great first instruments for beginners and solid seconds for seasoned players who need an extra acoustic for the stage or to play around the house. Not to mention, the western cutaway gives it a classic look. Plus, it offers better access to the upper frets, so reaching higher notes when soloing has never been easier.

Yamaha FGC-TA TransAcoustic Dreadnought Guitar Features:

  • A value-packed acoustic-electric with smooth playability and sophisticated onboard tech
  • SRT zero-impact pickup
  • Comfortable dreadnought cutaway body with tapered waist fits all players
  • Solid spruce top is full and balanced
  • Mahogany back and sides add power and clarity of tone
  • Scalloped bracing improves punch and projection
  • Slim, tapered nato neck with fast satin finish glides through the hand
  • Bound rosewood fingerboard

My Second Yamaha

The first one I bought back in 1982. An FG800J. It was my go to guitar for years until it was stolen a few years ago. Sadly guitar playing went by the wayside for a while. I purchased the Yamaha FGC-TA back in November. I have re strung it one time. It played great right from the box. The finish is very nice, and the balance and weight are good. Sweetwater was right on point with the sale and delivery. It arrived well packed in a case. I do not play professionally. I am an advanced amateur. I play this guitar everyday.

An absolute joy!

What a great guitar! Really beautiful finish all glossy but the neck is as smooth as silk I don't know what they use but it's so nice to play. The guitar sounds very well rounded with a little extra in the low end. So the Reverb and Chorus sounds with a touch of a button are ultra cool, kinda like surround sound. You get used to it real quick very inspirational. Yamaha really went above and beyond on this one. With or without the electronics this is a great sounding instrument but with a trick like that I'm using it. Plugged in sounds amazing! There's no bass or treble knobs? So the EQ they give you is what you get really nice bass response though and the highs are very clear, I was impressed. Just an absolute joy to play.

Terrific Guitar

I saw this guitar on You Tube, and although I was a little hesitant about buying a guitar online, I decided to give a try. Before it was shipped, I was sent several Hi Res photos of it which was great. It arrived double boxed, and in perfect condition. The set up was fine for me right out of the box. This guitar has such a nice rich even tone to it even without the the on board electronics. However, switch on the chorus and or reverb and the sound becomes glorius. The Elixir strings are smooth and friendly to the touch. The spruce top has fine tight grain and looks great. Couldn't find any flaws in the finish. I haven't tried it through an amp yet, so I can't rate that. Always like a cutaway feature too. I highly recommend it.

Great value

Guitar came with a slightly high action but the intonation was spot on and the guitar plays beautifully. Well worth the money.
Music background: Piano at 5 years old, cornet/ trumpet at 10 and guitar at 14.
