The 1965 Firebird Is Re-born

Own an iconic rock guitar, and a piece of Gibson history, with the Gibson Custom 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V solidbody electric guitar. Complete with authentic contours, dimensions, and construction methods, this Firebird will instantly transport you to a time of hot-rodded cars and musical revolution. The mahogany/walnut neck delivers true vintage feel with its authentic '65 Slim C shape. And a pair of Firebird Alnico V pickups, with hand-wired CTS electronics and a Switchcraft three-way selector, deliver definitive classic rock tone. With every detail accounted for, the Gibson Custom 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V may be the closest you'll ever get to playing a true '60s original.

Own a 6-string legend

The Gibson Custom 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V is a re-creation of (what was considered) a radical design in the early 1960s. Created by legendary automotive designer (and visionary) Ray Dietrich, the original 1963 Firebirds literally reversed conventional concepts for guitar bodies and headstocks. You can bet heads turned when any guitar player took to the stage with one of these unusual instruments strapped on. Today, the Gibson Custom 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V gives you the experience of strapping on a 1965 original.

You'll be in good company, playing a Firebird

The Gibson Custom 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V springs from a distinguished lineage. Players like Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, and Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music) found the Firebird's combination of looks and sound to be perfect for their needs (though, of course, Clapton played many Gibsons through the years). Keith Richards and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones, Stephen Stills, and Tom Petty have also been seen wielding a Firebird. You'll be in good company, playing the Gibson Custom 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V.

Gibson Custom 1965 Non-reverse Firebird V Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Crafted with authentic contours, dimensions, and construction methods for a true vintage experience
  • Solid mahogany construction delivers detailed tone and long sustain
  • "Authentic '65 Slim C" neck shape delivers the feel of a '60s original
  • Neck-through construction for great sustain
  • 2 mini humbuckers serve up timeless Firebird tone
  • Vintage-accurate Maestro Vibrola tailpiece

Incredible Intuitive Instrument

This just feels good in your hand, on your lap, or in a rock 'n' roll stance. It's got swagger and it's got the juice to back it up. The Firebird Humbuckers in this are often confused with mini Humbuckers, but they are not the same thing. These have a crunch and sting that isn't quite as mellow as the mini humbucker.
I love the maestro vibrato as well, and it NEVER ever causes me grief or tuning issues.
On top of all of that Gibson nailed the VOS treatment. The build is top-of-the-line and the playability is as good as anything else that I own. It is a favorite in my collection that is extremely hard to put down. It can play just about anything that I throw at it too!!
I used the word intuitive, because that's how it feels when you play this baby. Like it's just meant to be…almost like it knows what you want from it next. Think about that and how many instruments feel like that in your hand. Not too many.

Great guitar

Easy to play. People that see it love it. I like the way it sounds the weight of it. Not hard to play for a few hours. Thanks to Brent and Sweetwater for another easy purchase.
Music background: Always learning something new.

What a beauty

This is my second Gibson custom guitar. The build is perfect and the feel of it is incredible. It has that nice mahogany tone and sustain . You can't go wrong with Gibson custom guitars
Rated 4/5

It’s a beauty

Wonderful tone due to its mahogany body and neck. I also love the sound of the mini humbuckers which works well with Firebirds. The vibrola system is tailor made for firebirds and gives different colors to your chords and notes
