A No-compromise Acoustic Combo

The Hughes & Kettner era 1 uses top-shelf components — detailed preamps, premium AD/DA, and a custom-made power amp — to deliver natural-sounding tone, excellent dynamic response, and impressive headroom. This acoustic combo is more than a simple guitar amplifier, it's also a full-range PA system that lends magical presence to vocals and backing tracks. Channels 1 and 2 are fully loaded — use the Preshape and Mode buttons to tailor each channel to your voice or instrument, then add extra polish with 16 internal effects. You also get two more channels for break music, external effects, and more. The era 1 is also lightweight and easy to transport, making it a gig-worthy investment.

Top-shelf components for unrivaled sound quality

When Hughes & Kettner designed the era 1, they consulted renowned acoustic amp designer Michael Eisenmann. They painstakingly selected top-shelf components to ensure unrivaled sound and performance. The era 1's preamps capture sound with the utmost in clarity and authenticity, and its premium-quality AD/DA converters exhibit maximum transparency. At Sweetwater, we're especially impressed by the headroom afforded by this amplifier's custom-made power amp. Crank the era 1 as loud as you want — you'll still experience crystal-clear sound.

Jam-packed with useful features

The era 1 is loaded with every feature a performing musician could ask for. The first two channels possess independent FX engines with 16 great-sounding algorithms, while Preshape and Mode buttons conform to your voice or instrument, optimizing it for maximum impact. Channel three is a 1/8" auxiliary input that's ideal for patching in your tablet, smartphone, or media player. Channel four is a stereo 1/4" input that doubles as an FX return. Beyond that, the era 1 is as compact and light as a conventional 60-watt combo, making it a breeze to transport.

Internal FX include:

  • Reverb Room Dark
  • Reverb Room Bright
  • Reverb Hall Warm
  • Reverb Hall Bright
  • Reverb Church
  • Delay Short
  • Delay Mid
  • Delay Long
  • Delay Pan Delay

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Incredible

This is is one of the most amazing Acoustik amps I've ever owned. I've owned a pendulum sp1 for years and I have several vintage guitars with trans audio pickups in them, but it takes forever to dial in the right tone. This little gem I can plug in any guitar I have and within a couple seconds I've got the exact tone of the guitar.

I'm actually thinking of buying its Big Brother.

You're one of my best investments

Perfect for singer/songwriter.

Sound is clean, fantastic. Plenty of headroom/features for vocal/flattop solo act. House concert; placed "Edwina" (condenser mic) on the front edge of a 6' round rug, plugged in just the one XLR that caught both vocal & acoustic. Placed head off to the side about 12' & no feedback issues. No monitor needed. Holy cow; sounds wonderful.

Sweetwater rocks !

Have been purchasing most of my gear from Sweetwater for years , and have always received my orders quickly, sometimes even sooner than I expected. And if I have needed to return an item, it's pretty much hassle free. And Matt Alexander , our go to guy, always follows up to make sure I am happy with the order and to find out if I have any questions. This amp was going to be a practice amp, but after playing through it for a couple hours , I think it's going to be used out for my smaller venues . Great sound, and clarity , all the effects I need , and so much lighter than the amp I have been using. Quality built ,and hopefully will last a long time

ERA-1 Delivers

My reason for this purchase was not to pair this amp with an acoustic guitar.
I had demoed and purchased a PRS SE II Hollowbody Piezo and really liked the guitar.
The Piezo pick up sounded horrible to me thru my Marshall ASD 50, and that amp makes
my J45 sound pretty nice. The mag pick up sounded nice thru a Fender Blues Jr but that's not why I bought
the guitar. When the ERA-1 arrived I plugged into the piezo and was thrilled with the result. The amp allows
toning down the guitar to a really nice amplified acoustic sound and I love all the different effects.
My acoustic guitars also sound phenomenal thru it as does a Godin Kingpin II arch top. When paired
with the BJ it sounds like two guitars.
I could not be more pleased with this amp.
FWIW I just use this at home, I have no intentions of playing out with it other than with some buddies, it will however get very loud.

Hughes and kettner era1

Very nice amp for studio, cafe, low volume jamming with band but here comes the but ! If you perform live theres a problem. I used the amplifier era 1 as a personal monitor and i found out it did not sound loud enough or just didn't get enough weight coming from the speakers to satisfy me. Lets face it its 250 watts but only an 8 inch speaker. So, I had to return it. I tried a Roland KC 600 and it blew me away I guess. It just depends on what you need it for. P.S I used an bajo quinto when performing.
