The EMG EMG-BTC Control active bass and treble equalizer adds more tonal firepower to your favorite electric bass guitar! Using a stacked, or concentric, pot, the EMG-BTC Control packs both bass and treble controls into a very compact area. You get up to 12dB of cut and boost for bass and treble, and the controls are center dentented for fast return to normal settings. Two dip switches mounted on the control's PC board allow you to program high frequency response. There's also two addtional matching control knobs, an output jack, and a battery clip set included in the EMG-BTC Control.

I recently purchased an ESP LTD TA-204 FRX bass that looks great, very light and balanced but the tone was terrible. Very bright and distorted with no way to control it or add bass to it as it has a single tone knob and passive. I had 2 choices, send it back for a refund or add an active preamp, enter the EMG BTC Control. I own several basses with EMG pickups and decided to stay with what I knew I liked. I was hoping the BTC would help solve my tone issue but was not expecting any miracles. What I got was a miracle. I now have complete control over my tone with deep, punchy articulate bass and pristine highs. And when I say punchy I mean punchy. Even at low volume I can feel the notes and when I play at gigs, the low end has so much authority while the highs cut through with no problem and no distortion anywhere. Really happy with this product. I now have a bass that was almost returned and is now being used quite frequently. Thank you EMG and Sweetwater.

Great little Preamp. I added the EMG to my Squier VM jazz bass. It opened up the tone of the bass and expanded its tonal options without taking away from the character of the bass.

Does what it is supposed to do, as in active bass and treble, and as a bonus can be used with active or passive pickups. Insertion into the circuit gives you a buffered output and essentially an active bass. One could wire it with a switch so you could switch between active and passive mode so all does not die when the battery goes south. Their circuits are quiet and don't drain the battery outrageously.
