D’Addario: innovative strings since 1680

When you go with D’Addario, you receive far more than a great set of strings. You’re benefiting from three centuries of string-making experience. The D’Addario family tradition began in 1680 in the tiny town of Salle, Italy, where they made assorted instrument strings for over 200 years before relocating to New York in 1905. Since then, the D’Addario family has become a leader in string innovation. They designed the modern winding machine, introduced ultra-reliable hexagonal core wires, and pioneered the colored-coded ball end movement. More than 300 years since the family started making strings, D’Addario continues to set a global standard for quality and reliability. And every day, more than 500,000 strings emerge from their USA-based workshops.

Sound GREAT on my old Epiphone!!

I put these strings on a 1967 Epiphone and they sound fantastic — very bright sound and very comfortable on my old fingers!

Made my Gin Rickey play like my electric!

These were instantly awesome when I put them on my Gin Rickey (parlor acoustic). They sound great and allow for a much lighter touch which means easier on the fingers. I have no doubts about their durability, they are D'Addario's after all....

Great strings for acoustic guitars!

I mostly play electric guitar but always have an acoustic guitar within arm's length to grab when I want to work on something, inspired, bored, etc. I've had wrist issues for years due to work, sports and playing the guitar for decades. I tried these strings to see if I could continue to play my acoustic without the pain that goes along with heavy strings on an acoustic guitar and to play a lead here and there.

These strings delivered! I put them on, and they play great, easy to fret, easy to play barre chords, etc. I highly recommend these strings!

Help for old bad hands

I am nearly 70, started playing again about 3 years ago after over 30 years not playing at all. I have small hands, arthritis, busted my left wrist a decade ago and lost a a lot of flexibility and strength. About this time last year I got a Taylor BBe, it was much easier to play than my 50 year old Epiphone. Still, a lot of nights I had to spend a good part of my practice time with the capo up 2 frets to save my hands so I could play longer.
Got a set of these about 3 weeks ago to see if even lighter strings were any help. They were! I'm only using the capo now when the song calls for it. All chords and fingerings are easier, bar chords that were a challenge before are a snap.

But there is a tradeoff. Strings this light do not have the resonance and depth of heavier strings. My guitar doesn't sound quite as nice as before, but it's a hell of a lot easier to play.

Disappointed

These strings were maybe too light for my taste. They didn't carry the tone I was looking for. I think the worst aspect was the G string. To get to the weight required for the set, they made it unwound and for me, it made the string just sound dead. All of this could be my specific acoustic guitar, but I was disappointed in the overall product.
