Own a Legendary Acoustic at an Amazing Price

Taking its cues from one of the more iconic acoustics of the past six decades, the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Hummingbird bottles all the classic tone, feel, and visual aesthetics and puts it right into your hands. Whether you are standing or sitting, this seminal square-shouldered acoustic offers a one-of-a-kind balance and feel that will ensure hours of comfortable strumming or fingerpicking. The Epiphone Hummingbird features a solid Sitka spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides for a blend of crisp high end and midrange with a rich low-end foundation. A gorgeous mahogany neck with an Indian laurel fingerboard offers incredible response and playability, whether you’re playing big open chords or quieter single-note passages. And when you are ready to plug in, the Epiphone Hummingbird’s Fishman Sonicore pickup will deliver incredible amplified acoustic tone.

A visual feast

The classic top on the Hummingbird is enhanced by an aged gloss finish, and the original art of its unmistakable pickguard is a feast for the eyes. Ivory and black binding on the back and top give the Hummingbird even more aesthetic appeal, along with the reverse-belly Indian laurel bridge with ivory pins. A crown headstock inlay is yet another detail that is a true tip of the cap to the original. Plus, deluxe tuners with press-in gold bushings look classy and keep you in tune.

Legendary neck for incredible response

The ultra-comfortable rounded “C”-profile neck on the Epiphone Hummingbird has been glued in and features a tapered dovetail neck joint. Antique ivory binding along the neck and vintage mother-of-pearl split parallelograms on the fingerboard add even more classic visual details that will delight. The Indian laurel fingerboard is incredibly smooth and responsive — it will leave you with no doubt as to why the original it was inspired by has won over a legion of guitarists.

Stellar Sonicore-powered amplified tone

The Epiphone Hummingbird features an under-saddle, piezo-wired Fishman Sonicore pickup, which translates the instrument’s tone in a pure fashion. A soundhole-mounted preamp with rotary controls for Volume and Tone gives you incredibly easy, quick access to tweak your tone — a feature guitarists here at Sweetwater find especially practical.

So Good!

I purchased this for my daughter to have a reliable guitar to play in church. I am blown away and very jealous of her now for owning it.
It did need a set up as the action was high and the neck needed adjustment. It still has a little fret buzz in a couple spots that could be fixed with some fret work. But my set up guy got it playing like butter. The guy who does my guitar work loved it too. It is so pretty and we both love the tone. My daughter is very pleased with it and will be taking it with her for her senior pictures.
No regrets other than I want one too. So satisfying to play. Can't believe she can enjoy a Hummingbird for many years to come.
Also thank you Sweetwater. I bought with confidence knowing they would ship me something they checked out for quality. It is wonderful.

Made in china

I read a lot of really harsh reviews about the IBG Epiphones made in China. It almost kept me from buying one. I'm glad I trusted my gut on this one. I can't find anything to complain about and I'm pretty picky. It sounds great. It's definitely money well spent. In my opinion this guitar is under priced. It's a quality instrument.
Music background: I was in a motorcycle crash 4 years ago and almost died. I lost my left leg and unable to work in my trade as a toolmaker anymore so I bought a guitar and started learning. I play along with songs on the radio mostly from my wheelcair.

Great guitar

Tuners come out often so plan on down the line replacing. Had this thing about a year and this is a quality instrument. The sounds are subtle and clean. Not as loud as my masterbilt from the 2000's so if you're wanting Martin dread volume pick something else. My only complaint has been one of the tuners always slipping out even after two string changes using elixirs. I'm going to happily replace them with Grover tuning machines and still only be $ into this guitar, all the while saving. Came setup pretty good I just did adjustments to the bridge a little bit. If you have the money, purchase this thing. It is beautiful and so so clear. As it opens up the articulation of the body becomes more attractive. Buy this now.

Amazing Build Quality and Tone

This is better, in my opinion, in sound quality than the Gibson sister. I've owned this guitar for about 4 months now and it is simply killer! I've owned many Gibson guitars, but the IBG Hummingbird has landed in first place. I can't believe Gibson allowed this.

I am beside myself at how great this guitar is. I feel like I bought a Gibson.

First, kudos to Sweetwater's sales staff. You'll never be treated better by a company. I bought a Gibson acoustic from another unnamed huge musical site who claimed to be my 'Friend', but was treated pretty marginally by them. I learned my lesson and now order from here. Let me tell you why: this guitar is currently pretty hard to find. They let me know when they were back in stock, but only had 2 of them. They took tons of pics of both of them, put them up live, and i was able to choose the serial number of the one i wanted when ordering. Name me another site that puts that much love into listing guitars.

Anyway, back to the guitar...guys/gals...it's flawless. the finish is actually even darker than in the pics, and that's a great thing. It really looks like a vintage humminbird. whoever did the 55 point inspection nailed it. This thing was almost in tune when i opened the box. perfect action, intonation was spot on (where as with my gibson i had to do some work on it after getting it 'new')...it even SMELLS like wood (cuz it is). I have never been more floored with an epiphone. I feel like this is the gibson i actually wanted in the first place.

I can't put it down. i'm at work and i'm thinking of new songs i can play on this thing. Just buy it, if you can. you won't regret it.
