So Good!

By Aaron Nelson from Normal, IL on February 1, 2024 Music Background: Guitar player and father of three guitar players

I purchased this for my daughter to have a reliable guitar to play in church. I am blown away and very jealous of her now for owning it.
It did need a set up as the action was high and the neck needed adjustment. It still has a little fret buzz in a couple spots that could be fixed with some fret work. But my set up guy got it playing like butter. The guy who does my guitar work loved it too. It is so pretty and we both love the tone. My daughter is very pleased with it and will be taking it with her for her senior pictures.
No regrets other than I want one too. So satisfying to play. Can't believe she can enjoy a Hummingbird for many years to come.
Also thank you Sweetwater. I bought with confidence knowing they would ship me something they checked out for quality. It is wonderful.

Made in china

By carey caraway from LEXINGTON, TN on January 15, 2024 Music Background: I was in a motorcycle crash 4 years ago and almost died. I lost my left leg and unable to work in my trade as a toolmaker anymore so I bought a guitar and started learning. I play along with songs on the radio mostly from my wheelcair.

I read a lot of really harsh reviews about the IBG Epiphones made in China. It almost kept me from buying one. I'm glad I trusted my gut on this one. I can't find anything to complain about and I'm pretty picky. It sounds great. It's definitely money well spent. In my opinion this guitar is under priced. It's a quality instrument.

Great guitar

Great guitar. All I am going to say is believe all the orher 5 star reviews they are all true.

Amazing value

By James Puckett from BOULDER, CO on November 30, 2023

It's hard for me to believe how good this guitar is for the price. The build quality is excellent. I found one flaw, there's a black mark on the side of the rim of the sound hole, so it's only visible to someone who's looking for flaws in odd places. The inlay work is excellent, without the excess filler seen on less expensive Epiphones. Even the tuners are great. This guitar sounds amazing and it is LOUD. They used solid wood and I can hear it. If you're on the fence just buy it now before the price goes up.

Dream

By Max from Hackensack on September 12, 2023

That was my dream guitar. Absolutely stunning look and feel. Unmatched quality. It smells wood, the finish is semi gloss, so it feels very expensive and luxury. Sounds amazing, looks dope. Really happy with it. Thanks to Sweerwater team for smooth buying process and quality check.

WOW!!! I'M SHOCKED!!! KNOCKED OUT OF PARK

By robert roach from winter park, FL on August 7, 2023 Music Background: Have played guitar for 57 years-also play keyboard and bass-multiple band over my lis-some of life including some notable ones

Well, I never expected to be writing a positive review of a "Made in Indonesia" Epiphone, but here I am.. I watched many reviews of this guitar online from various folks including some of my favorite, most knowledgeable critics..After hearing so much praise for this guitar I pulled the trigger knowing I could send it back if I wasn't happy with it..I just don't even know how to express how happy I am with this guitar.. I recently purchased a Gibson J-45, 50' Original, and love it. After that purchase, I was toying with the idea of getting a Gibson Hummingbird, but really didn't want to drop another $+ immediately after buying the J45.. SOOOOOO, after reading all of the reviews I purchased the Epiphone "Inspired by Gibson" Hummingbird...I could not be happier.. An actual Gibson Hummngbird "may" sound a little better, but it would be quite and accomplishment if it did...Right out of the box I strummmed a little and just sat there staring at the guitar, wondering "WTF..maybe I need to clean more ears out bc this thing sounds incredible!!" But folks, it wasn't my ears..after playing this thing for over a week now I can truly say this guitar is above and beyond.. I slid my fingers from an open "E" chord all the way up the neck with my fingers in place for the E chord on the 12th fret...ALL THREE NOTES WERE PERFECT PITCH...I'm not talking "really close" I'm talking "perfect pitch", ie., intonation is PERFECT. Even my high-end guitars don't hit it as perfectly as this one.. Maybe I got luckY and "got a good one"..My J45 always winds up back in the case as, now, I always wind up back with this guitar.. By far the best-sounding acoustic I have, including my J45 and Takamine EF341SC. Don't get me wrong, I love these other two guitars.. This Epiphone just has more of everything I'm looking for in a acoustic sound.. My Takamine and J45 are comparable as far as playability goes, but the overall sound/tone of the Epiphone is amazing.. The J45 has a little more bottom end but the Epiphone has a healthy low end, as well as an absolutely great blend of mids and highs.. You can feel the bass against your body in both the J45 and Epiphone.. The Takamine is Maple sides and back so obviously it doesn't offer this nice bottom end. I feel that my J45, though great, could do with an ever so slightly less bottom end to create a more balanced sound. A sound that is what I get from the Epiphone.. DID I REALLY SAY THAT!!! Yes, I prefer the sound of the EPI over my J45...even thinking about sending my J45 back bc of the cost (but probably wont') since the Epi more than exceeds the sound I am looking for...I won't go into the specs bc you have them right here on the Sweetwater site..the construction looks flawless and it is beautiful guitar....my advice...get this thing before too many people have purchased one and submitted reviews and they realize that and the price needs to go up..Thanks, as always to my rep, Alan Moon.. Always steers me right and knows way too much about music/instruments/recording etc. LOL.

Great guitar

By Thomas Aldridge from Missouri on March 7, 2023 Music Background: 32 years

Tuners come out often so plan on down the line replacing. Had this thing about a year and this is a quality instrument. The sounds are subtle and clean. Not as loud as my masterbilt from the 2000's so if you're wanting Martin dread volume pick something else. My only complaint has been one of the tuners always slipping out even after two string changes using elixirs. I'm going to happily replace them with Grover tuning machines and still only be $ into this guitar, all the while saving. Came setup pretty good I just did adjustments to the bridge a little bit. If you have the money, purchase this thing. It is beautiful and so so clear. As it opens up the articulation of the body becomes more attractive. Buy this now.

These will be collectible one day

By Aaron from Austin TX on January 13, 2023 Music Background: Recording and performing musician of over 20 yrs

I watched a ton of videos and read all the reviews before I bought this guitar. This guitar is worth the hype. It's not made from the same materials as the Gibson version. So it doesn't sound exactly like the Gibson. But its tone and playability are much closer than its price tag. Truly impressive. Like 80s Japanese Fenders, I believe these guitars will retain their value and be sought after one day. Buy one before the aftermarket drives up the price.

An amazing guitar great quality magnificent sound

By Stephen Leslie from Bucks County, PA on December 20, 2022 Music Background: Singer songwriter

This is a beautifully built guitar with an amazing sound, I can't imagine how much better and actual Gibson Hummingbird could be. I would highly recommend this guitar it is well worth the price and the craftsmanship is remarkable and as always my customer service at Sweetwater was the best.

Amazing Build Quality and Tone

By Randy Cox from Mineola, TX on August 3, 2022 Music Background: Experienced

This is better, in my opinion, in sound quality than the Gibson sister. I've owned this guitar for about 4 months now and it is simply killer! I've owned many Gibson guitars, but the IBG Hummingbird has landed in first place. I can't believe Gibson allowed this.

Epiphone Hummingbird IBG

By Sweetwater Customer on April 23, 2022

I bout
I bought a Gibson Hummingbird in the 70's at a damp leaky store. The neck was warped but I wanted it badly so I bought it anyway, hoping it would improve in a better environment. I had it adjusted a few times but it was never right. I played it anyway because it sounded great. Now I have it tuned to an open C and it still sounds great - but still hurts my fingers. I've always wanted to get another Hummingbird that sounded the same and was playable. Gibson prices have risen out of my reach ever since then and the announcement of the Epiphone Hummingbird Inspired by Gibson gave me renewed hope. I watched at least 10 very positive reviews of it and decided this was my chance to have a new Hummingbird. It came from Sweetwater quickly and in perfect condition. The construction and the finish are flawless. It sounds good and will probably improve over time. The action is a little higher than I would like and the strings are heavier than I usually use but those are easy changes to make.

I am beside myself at how great this guitar is. I feel like I bought a Gibson.

By CH on January 11, 2021

First, kudos to Sweetwater's sales staff. You'll never be treated better by a company. I bought a Gibson acoustic from another unnamed huge musical site who claimed to be my 'Friend', but was treated pretty marginally by them. I learned my lesson and now order from here. Let me tell you why: this guitar is currently pretty hard to find. They let me know when they were back in stock, but only had 2 of them. They took tons of pics of both of them, put them up live, and i was able to choose the serial number of the one i wanted when ordering. Name me another site that puts that much love into listing guitars.

Anyway, back to the guitar...guys/gals...it's flawless. the finish is actually even darker than in the pics, and that's a great thing. It really looks like a vintage humminbird. whoever did the 55 point inspection nailed it. This thing was almost in tune when i opened the box. perfect action, intonation was spot on (where as with my gibson i had to do some work on it after getting it 'new')...it even SMELLS like wood (cuz it is). I have never been more floored with an epiphone. I feel like this is the gibson i actually wanted in the first place.

I can't put it down. i'm at work and i'm thinking of new songs i can play on this thing. Just buy it, if you can. you won't regret it.

Beautiful Guitar

By Rich Pratt from IL on December 14, 2020

First I would like to thank Nick Pasquino for making my first time purchasing a guitar from Sweetwater an outstanding experience! I will make future purchases now from this company. The guitar? I have received so many compliments just from it's general appearance that it's just downright silly! It's beautiful! I honestly had a little bit of the jitters because of the Epiphone name, but I am here to tell you this guitar beat all of my expectations. It really does sound and play very nicely. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful Guitar

By Ron Thomas from OH - Ohio on December 4, 2020 Music Background: Beginner. 62 years young

Just got this, came the next day. My salesman Gage was awesome to work with. I have looked it over completely and I cannot find any problems w the finish, the aged finish look is beautiful. This guitar is way above my ability, my guitar instructor is a professional musician and is really impressed as well.Sweetwater also gave me 4 different ones to pick from online in a photo gallery, multiple angles and pics of each one, rather than just pick one off the pile and ship it. Thanks Gage
