This is my all-time favorite snare drum for various reasons. The true pitch tension rods allow the drum to hold its tuning far longer than any others. The Mag throw and 3-P butt plate are really nice touches. The quality of the shell, the finish, you name it! Such a well-made, potent-sounding drum. The 8-inch depth gives this drum lots of heft and headroom at all tunings. I'm currently tuning it at Middle C (261.6 HZ Tune Bot) for the batter and F (349 HZ) on the bottom. I'm getting a crisp, punchy sound that I can feel in my gut. The supplied Remo heads are just fine, too. No real need to replace those. I can get increased snare wire response by using cords instead of plastic or nylon straps.

I must comment on the superb packaging my drum was delivered in; a box in a box in a box along with plenty of bubble wrap.

A solid snare, versatile for anything you throw at it. If you want punch, you got it. A great addition to your snare collection. Tune it low, med, or high it all sounds great.
