Huge upgrade

The tripod stand the cello comes with is terrible, but this makes all the difference. Great upgrade.

Way overpriced for what it is.

I was stunned when I received this item. After spending over $... plus extra for shipping, I was left extremely disappointed in the product. The stand is made out of a lightweight wood, which I guess is to make it more portable, but it feels extremely flimsy in comparison to the heavy NS electric cello. The adjustment knobs are made out of what feels like cheap plastic, and so getting the bolt tight enough to keep the cello from moving side-to-side feels risky. Same goes for the supports you're meant to rest your legs against. I've tightened the knob as much as I can without feeling I'm going to tear it off, but they move constantly. Terrible value for the money. Seems to me it should cost half the price or less. I'd return it, but the shipping costs are prohibitive.

Disappointing

The wood construction Is ok, the joints are well made and the overall construction seems to be strong. The bout pieces are a little small but probably better for travel. BUT the end pin rod is a little too short. The wooden part of the stand is the max length that will fit into the pouch on he side of the case And the end pin is close to bottoming out in the hole that was drilled for it, so a deeper hole is needed if the pin rod is lengthened. The rod is a standard size and available at the local hardware store For very little money. It will be an extra piece in the bag when travel. The most disappointing feature is the misalignment of the drill hole for the bolt that fastens the cello to the stand. As received, the hole was off by about 5 degrees so that the cello and stand surfaces did not mate. The cello and stand touched at one corner but on the other corner were about 3/16 apart. If i used it as is, the mounting nut in the cello would be eventually be loosened by the off center torque of the connecting bolt. I fixed it by filing out the bolt hole on the stand to allow the bolt to wobble slightly (when loose) in the hole. The stand works fine with the wider hole. I'm-sure i voided the warranty on the stand, But I needed the stand and expected a replacement would be the same. Over all, i think it is over priced but works better for me than the tripod. With the slight modification it will get a lot of use.
