The Custom Catch #15’s sinker redwood top is sliced from old-growth redwood logs recovered from Northern California rivers, where they’ve often sat for more than a century. Sinker redwood takes on unique hues from mineral-rich water and natural sediment over the years, which adds tastefully aging and “stripy” character to already stunning woodgrain. Sonically, redwood has a bold and quick response with bright brilliance and warm overtones similar to cedar (around the Taylor office, it’s often referred to as “cedar on steroids”). Custom Catch #15’s koa back and sides showcase exemplary AA-grade qualities, namely detailed figuring with sonic traits comparable to mahogany with a bit more bite.
