Epiphone Celebrates a Blues Legend!

Paying homage to an undeniable blues legend, Epiphone presents the B.B. King Lucille. This beautiful semi-hollowbody electric guitar is based on the classic axe Mr. King dubbed “Lucille” and played for decades, all the way up until his passing in 2015. The Epiphone Lucille features a 5-ply layered maple body and top for punchy, full tone. A maple neck with ebony fingerboard delivers incredibly smooth response and wonderful playability. An Epiphone LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge provides wonderful sustain and tuning support to this stunner. And Alnico Classic Pro humbuckers deliver that warm, vintage humbucker tone that translates beautifully to blues, jazz, and even rock.

Alnico Classic Pro humbuckers serve up sweet blues tone

B.B. King was known for his immaculate tone. The two Alnico Classic Pro humbuckers in the Lucille let you dial in that classic tone as well as explore your own. These Alnico V pickups are potted and evenly wired for beefy, hum-free output. In addition, two volume controls, two tone controls, and a 6-position Varitone switch equip you with a massive array of sonic options. The Varitone switch is a vintage throwback to the original ES-355s from the late ’50s. It lets you filter and scoop your mids with each position switch, as well as dial up really cool throwback tones from the golden age of rock and blues.

Detailed, vintage appointments

The B.B. King Lucille semi-hollowbody electric guitar has many detailed appointments inspired by the various Gibson ES models Mr. King played throughout his career. To start, there are no F-holes on its top, a feature Mr. King preferred as he felt it kept feedback at bay. Gold hardware is found all over this beauty, from headstock to bridge and all points in between. Pearloid block inlays along the ebony fingerboard also lend a ton of classic stage-ready presentation to Lucille. There’s even a brass truss rod cover with B.B. King’s name engraved on it and a mother-of-pearl Lucille inlay on the headstock face! And here at Sweetwater, we love the gold Grover Rotomatic tuners with keystone buttons that not only provide rock-solid tuning but tons of classic visual vibe.

Great guitar Great price

Epiphone really out did themselves on this guitar,not only on making a beautiful guitar but also on the play ability of it.My hand running up and down the neck feels so comfortable.The sound coming out of it is fantastic. This is my go to guitar for sure.

Purchased this breath of fresh air.

The aesthetic of the semi hollow body guitar is something that I have been listing after since 40 years ago a father of a friend of mine let me play his classic gretsch.
He played blues and jazz while I was in the rock and metal route.
Since those days my music and tastes have changed. I aged out of my novelty guitars and came back to the roots of my own style.
I have purchased many different guitars and setups over the years and have been in search of the tone that I can hear in my head but can't quite seem to find.
This lady is something that not only fits my hand well but plays effortlessly! My modest setup was able to dial in a very close final tone in minutes.
The controls are more intuitive than I had thought.
Lucille was able to show me some of her tricks immediately.
The balance reminds me of a PRS and the size is excellent for my forearm and wrist relief to help control the body and neck as I walk around and play.
The fret relief and setup seem absolutely on point.
It arrived in tune which I found amazing.
Intonation seemed perfect but I am a bit ocd so I had to tweak it a bit. I actually most likely made it worse.

play's and sounds very similar to a gibson. great guitar for the price range. much more affordable compared to the custom at $.

Incredible Value for the Money

This guitar knocks it out of the park. I hadn't played an Epiphone for over a decade, and the last one I did was passable. I had been of the opinion that Epiphone's were a beginner guitar. After trying this and owning it for a few months, I can safely say that it's every bit as good as a guitar twice its' value. The fit and finish are perfect; the ebony fingerboard is a classy touch that looks much better than the previous iteration of this model with a rosewood fingerboard.

After buying this, I was almost certain I would need a hard case for it. I was pleasantly surprised that the Epiphone Case/Bag hybrid it came with is solid. It is a zipper case, which I am not the greatest fan of long term, but it allows me to put off buying a new case for a while at least.

The only downside are the pickups, which are passable and more than decent when playing overdriven, but at cleaner tones have a muffle that isn't particularly pleasing. However, pickups can be changed, and the foundation of the guitar is fantastic. I have to give credit to the Sweetwater team for getting it shipped out so quickly and packed so well.

Love the BB king epiphone

The service was incredible they called me and asked me exactly how I wanted my guitar set up what kind of strings I wanted plus I decided to have them use their plex machine the guitar arrived at my house in two boxes one inside the other very well protected I let it acclimate to my environment for 24 hours like they ask I took it out the guitar was perfect no fingerprints no smudges and it was even in tune somewhat my only complaint is they didn't put a bag of candy in the box or a sticker sweetwater rocks I would recommend them to anyone
