Takes the Place of Several Rides Behind Chris's Kits
Chris Coleman's Byzance C Squared Ride Cymbal fills the roles of several traditional rides behind the kit. From timekeeping and accent work to washing and crashing, this 21-inch Meinl ride is primed to cover tons of ground in a single-ride setting. The Meinl C Squared begins life as a heavy blank of B20 bell bronze. Meinl's cymbal artists carefully work the profile height, weight, shape, and bell until the proper articulation and presence are achieved. Next, a series of 16 holes is drilled around the edge of the raw, unlathed cymbal surface. According to Chris and Meinl, the holes help dry out the wash and sustain common to larger 21-inch ride cymbals such as this. The C Squared's bell is left chunky to deliver a crisp, clean, icy response. Finally, the entire surface is hand hammered in zones, with hundreds of hammer clusters across the bow and edge, and just a few dozen placed along the bell to strike the right balance of earthiness and definition. Just ask drummers at Sweetwater: if you're looking for a single ride that can handle it all, the Chris Coleman Meinl Byzance C Squared Ride Cymbal is the place to start.
