Meinl Cymbals 21 inch Byzance Vintage Chris Coleman Signature C² Ride Cymbal Reviews
Chris Coleman's Byzance C Squared Ride Cymbal fills the roles of several traditional rides behind the kit. From timekeeping and accent work to washing and crashing, this 21-inch Meinl ride is primed to cover tons of ground in a single-ride setting. The Meinl C Squared begins life as a heavy blank of B20 bell bronze. Meinl's cymbal artists carefully work the profile height, weight, shape, and bell until the proper articulation and presence are achieved. Next, a series of 16 holes is drilled around the edge of the raw, unlathed cymbal surface. According to Chris and Meinl, the holes help dry out the wash and sustain common to larger 21-inch ride cymbals such as this. The C Squared's bell is left chunky to deliver a crisp, clean, icy response. Finally, the entire surface is hand hammered in zones, with hundreds of hammer clusters across the bow and edge, and just a few dozen placed along the bell to strike the right balance of earthiness and definition. Just ask drummers at Sweetwater: if you're looking for a single ride that can handle it all, the Chris Coleman Meinl Byzance C Squared Ride Cymbal is the place to start.

Woah, what a RIDE!!!
I've played on my share of ride cymbals. When I tell you this one is going to be an industry standard in a few years, I really do mean it! I has a "ting" that's not over "tingy", a very balanced bow and the bell that Zeus himself must have touched. Every sound you need (dark and bright) can be made using this cymbal! I thought because of the weight that the overtone was going to be overwhelming... I was absolutely wrong. When you are in action with your band mates, it dissipates nicely, so I urge my gaff tape fiends to hold back for a sec. You most likely won't need it at all.
This is an EVERYTHING ride. It'll be on everyone's Mt Rushmore or rides really soon. Great job Meinl and Chris Coleman!!
