The power of the BOSS VE-8 Pedal

Sweetwater loves how you can leave your pedalboard at home when you gig out with the BOSS Acoustic Singer Pro. The most popular features of the VE-8 Acoustic Singer pedal are built right in:

  • Automatic harmonies — build real-time vocal harmonies that follow your guitar chords
  • Looper — create and play over percussion, jam tracks, and background vocals on the fly
  • Acoustic Resonance processing— restore the natural, woody acoustic tone that your under-saddle piezo pickup has robbed you of
  • Channel FX — treat vocals with a lush delay and guitar with 2 flavors of chorus
  • Anti-feedback — squelch squeals before they can impact your shows

Power & depth to command a room

With 120 watts of power and a custom, bi-amped speaker set on deck, the BOSS Acoustic Singer Pro dispenses punch and dynamics never before available in its class. Its 2-way speaker system consists of an 8" woofer and 1" hi-frequency tweeter to reproduce the body of your instrument and soul of your voice.

USB audio interface captures your set

Let your audience relive your live sets exactly as you intended them with the BOSS Acoustic Singer Pro's USB out. Just add a computer or compatible smart device, and your shows can live on forever with the effects and live energy of the genuine article. If you're ready to elevate your live performances, musicians at Sweetwater heartily recommend the BOSS Acoustic Singer Pro.

What is Demo Gear?

At Sweetwater, we're so picky that what we call a "demo" is actually better than what most music retailers sell as "new" gear! Our gear hasn't endured hundreds of people a week plunking away at all the keyboards, fumbling through Stairway to Heaven on every guitar or playing with every fader and knob on a mixer or control surface.

What demo means to us is that we've had it out of the box, or maybe it was in a customer's hands for a few days and isn't "factory fresh" as a result. Every demo item we sell has Sweetwater's 2-year Total Confidence Coverage™ warranty, and has been tested and verified up to "new" specs by our factory-authorized technicians to make sure it's in perfect working order before we ship it to you.

When you buy a Demo item at Sweetwater, you get:
  • 2-year Total Confidence Coverage Warranty™!
  • Products inspected and tested by our factory-authorized techs, guaranteed to function like new (or better)!
  • FREE shipping on most items
  • Equipment that will MEET or EXCEED your expectations!

Boss 120 watt Acoustic Singer Pro with my Ibanez 520h semi hollow guitar

Received my Boss Acoustic Singer pro amp on Wednesday evening and did a quick sound check then used it the next afternoon for a gig in a large room with carpets and 60 people. I was amazed at the sound and sheer volume of the amp. I run my Ibanez 520h through a Boss SD-1 overdrive that I only use on a couple of songs. Then into the guitar channel set to the acoustic green light setting, volume on 30%, bass and mid at 50% and treble at 65%. Notch is off, Chorus to the left halfway and reverb at 50%. With these amp settings I can get every thing I need for a hour and a half show just by flipping the TRI WAY switches and the guitar. With no hesitation I can go from acoustic to rock to jazz guitar sounds in the same song. My vocals are much easier to manage with both echo and reverb on switches. The harmonies are not quite as accurate as the TC GXT pedal I was using , but the TC was hard to set up and use. The boss harmony is simple and consistent, very easy to use. I have now used the Boss ASP on 2 indoor and 2 out door gigs as my only sound equipment with no problem. My iPad runs my background tracks through the Boss ASP with ease. The bass and drums balance out with the vocals and guitar exceptionally well. I think this is because of the dual power configuration. Clean and balanced with no problems and quick set up. It is important to me to have set time and tear down time in less than 15 minutes and this set up is more like 5-7 minutes. I almost never use a PA system Just grab the amp and go. For venues from 3 to 100 people I give this amp my very best ratings. My only problem is that I haven't had time to hook up my acoustic to it yet.

Excellent sound quality, lots of power, and valuable guitar/vocal effects (if they add Bluetooth it's perfect)

This an excellent acoustic amp. I play steel string and nylon; it sounds great with both. I feel like my vocals sound crisp. It is powerful. I don't think I've ever turned the master volume above 3 or 4. The amp's chorus is great on the guitar so I feel like that's --at least-- $ value. The delay, doubling, and reverb for voice is another $ value. The other day I was listening to a song I wanted to play and I screwed around with knobs (delay, doubling, and reverb) and, in the end, I sounded like the artist. It's almost like recording artists use effects like these on their voices when they record albums! I did find that I had feedback when I first started using it. I'd recommend using the notch and phase buttons as they are intended to address feedback. But, my best advice is to turn OFF the tweeter if you are in a small room. Boss made it super easy to turn the tweeter off (it's almost like BOSS knew the tweeter could be a problem in a small room and they created an easy way to turn it off and on). (I am also working on acoustic treatment in my room and it has improved my sound quality and feedback but I haven't treated the back wall or the ceiling yet.)

I purchased a lot of guitar pedals before I purchased this amp. If I had to do it all over again, I would have purchased this amp first. I can see now that some of my guitar pedals are not necessary because this amp does the same thing.

The amp does not have Bluetooth. It would be nice. Sometimes when I'm learning a song I like to play along with the song and I wish I could use Bluetooth with this amp. It's the only thing that feels missing. Otherwise, it's an amazing amp.

The last thing I'll say is this: I love the fact that I can plug cables into the back of the amp and into my audio interface.

SECOND REVIEW OF THIS WONDERFUL AMP

If you saw my previous review of this amp I don't think I gave it enough credit. The first review I had only just gotten the amp. I have spent more time with it now. I have spent nearly all my waking hours playing it for days. Previously I had complained about the bassy muddy vocal sound. I officially retract that statement now. Well it turns out when I quit plugging my tried and true SM58 microphone into it and instead plugged in my Sennheiser 835 with switch, magical things happened. The muddy sound disapeared and a beautiful articulate clear warm vocal came out of the amp. WOW WOW. I really really like. The muddy bassy sound is gone when I changed microphones. And as for the guitar that I said had a bassy muddy sound that also is gone once I worked the EQ's and the acoustic resonance button. This amp has moved up very high up on my list of guitar amplifiers. What I also found is this is a jewel of an amp because you have harmonies built in you have echo you can add to your reverb. In other words. Finally I can grab this amp and my guitar without having to grab a bunch of foot pedals. This is really convenient. Now let me mention the Loudbox Performer again. If you want one amp you can use with your guitar and microphone it is truly great and you can also use it as a pa system as I do when I am giving A lecture. You can get a really great sound of the loudbox performer. But I must say I have fallen for this BOSS Acoustic Singer Pro head over heels crazy about it. It is now my favorite gigging amp. I have found some beautiful sounds in it. This has now become my go to amp for a gig. I love it. I mean I like it so much I just spend hours and hours playing through it. Did I say I like it. Well here it is again... I like it, I like it.

WHY THE FIVE STARS?. READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW TO THE END TO FIND OUT

The truth about this amp.
When comparing this Boss Acoustic Singer Pro with the Loudbox performer it fails miserably. It is muddy and Bassy sounding.
When you compare playing a D18 Martin guitar with this boss amp to the great loudbox performer there is no comparison. Through the loudbox performer the D18 sounds just fabulous But When the D18 is played through this boss amp The guitar sounds muddy bassy and not nearly as clear and fabulous as it does when you're playing on the loudbox performer. The same for vocals. The vocals have too much bass and a muddy sound on this Boss amp compared to the first class loudbox performer. When you compare it to the great Loudbox performer the Boss doesn't come anywhere close and the Boss fails just terribly.
However... after saying all these bad things about this amp why…. why….why in the world would I give this Boss amp five golden stars. Welllll. The reason being is simple. This amp is just a blast to play through. It has it's own sound that (albiet too much bass and muddy) but a good sound that is easy on the ears and just outright fun to play through. When I bought this amp my son and I played hours through it just having the time of our lives having a blast and loving it. It is just fun to play through. THUS ***** THE 5 STARS.
